Better at Home Coordinator
Better at Home is a “branded” program of the United Way of the Lower Mainland. The Better at Home program supports seniors to live in their own home and stay connected to their community. The Kitimat Better at Home program provides a basket of non-medical services with the support of staff, volunteers and fee for service contractors. The Program is available to retired seniors over the age of 65 as well as retired/non-working seniors 50 years and older living with physical or physiological support needs.
Job Type: Permanent full time up to a maximum of 35 hours per week.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Better at Home program provides non medical support services to seniors in the community, helping them manage day to day tasks so they can maintain independence and remain safely connected to their homes and community.
Maintain and support contracting relationships for home support services, including light housekeeping, lawn care, snow removal, and minor home repairs.
Provide direct client support by participating in home visits and assisting clients with grocery shopping and prescription deliveries.
Co-ordinate and develop the Better at Home program services for seniors in order to help reduce isolation and encourage social interaction.
Monitor the intake and needs of seniors using or wanting to use Better at Home Services and identify and document needs for additional services as they arise.
Work collaboratively with community Agencies to further senior’s independence in identified service areas.
Promote and market Better at Home Services in the community including maintaining the Better at Home Handbook and the Kitimat Better at Home brochure.
Maintain appropriate records for evaluation, funders and organizational requirements.
Ensure there are appropriate policies and procedures in place for service delivery and succession planning.
Oversee the Better at Home budget with Executive Director and Finance Manager.
Qualifications
Undergraduate Diploma in the field of Social Services preferred.
Demonstrated working experience in organizing and supervising programs and services.
Demonstrated experience working with volunteers and senior
Additional Requirements
Criminal record check
Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
Use of a secure vehicle or alternate transportation arrangements is required.
Flexibility to work variable hours
