Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Branch Manager, the employee in this position is responsible for researching, coordinating,
and measuring results and reporting on the degree of impact of the projects, policies and actions outlined in the City of Regina’s solid waste master plan, Waste Plan Regina and the City’s water programming initiatives. The work generally requires the employee to exercise judgement, initiative and creativity. This position will provide coordination of efforts across a number of corporate divisions and will provide a corporate‑level report to City Council on the progress and impacts of the projects, policies and actions within the Waste Plan Regina and the City’s water programming.n
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Participate in various committees including engagement with the City’s Chamber of Commerce.
- Update City Council annually through a public report on the progress and measured impact of implementing projects, policies and actions outlined in Waste Plan Regina.
- Identify and address waste diversion related issues to the City’s solid waste master plan, and Waste Plan Regina through various groups and committees.
- Oversee and provide coordination support to ensure implementation of projects, policies, and actions of the solid waste master plan, Waste Plan Regina and the City’s water programming are captured and aligned with the work delivered by the various departments within the City.
- Conduct a regular engagement with external stakeholders and utilizes the information to measure progress toward achieving goals and targets and refinement of the City’s waste diversion and water programming action plans.
- Ensures action items in the City’s solid waste master plan are kept up to date with the most current information to ensure that the sequencing of projects is appropriate, and corporate and community connections are identified.
- Lead and/or participate in the development and delivery of current or revised policy in support of the Waste Plan Regina and the City’s water programming initiatives.
- Lead and/or participate in projects that are identified that support the Waste Plan Regina and the City’s water programming initiatives.
- Be an ambassador for Waste Plan Regina and the City’s water programming vision, themes and goals both internally and through communications with the general public, community partners and stakeholders.
- Lead and/or participate in scheduled reviews and updates to Waste Plan Regina and the City’s water programming initiatives.
- Develop and manage projects and budgets associated with the role, particularly those that are outlined in the Waste Plan Regina and the City’s water programming initiatives.
- Performs related duties as required.
Key Qualifications
- The knowledge for this position is obtained through completion of a University Degree in an Environmental Science or a related field with five (5) years progressive related experience, with competency in strategic development, collaborative community initiatives, organizational development, and design and implementation of public consultation processes.
