Exceptional Tourism Ambassadors are the crucial front line of Destination Stratford, and we are hiring an elite team of dedicated individuals to engage with our visitors in an outgoing and enthusiastic manner.

In addition to providing exceptional front-line service, Tourism Ambassadors will have the opportunity to support Destination Stratford’s marketing initiatives. Candidates with an interest in marketing, communications, photography, or social media are encouraged to apply. n
Youth will work full time - 35 hours per week (may include some including evenings, weekends, and holidays).
n
Tourism Ambassadors will
n· Enthusiastically assist visitors with inquiries, helping to promote Stratford and area attractions, events and businesses.n
· Demonstrate exceptional knowledge of Stratford and area.
n
· Provide directions to local businesses, events and attractions, assist with accommodation information and direct people to box office or online booking engines for booking tickets and other experiences.
n
· Sell items such as culinary trails, Destination Stratford tote bags and Downtown Dollars gift certificates.
n
· Ensure Al Fresco areas are properly cleaned and sanitized.
n
· Opportunities for involvement to help support partner tourism-related events, festivals and attractions to welcome visitors to Stratford.
Potential examples include Stratford Summer Music, Stratford Perth Museum, Gallery Stratford, etc.
n
· Take pride in maintaining inventories and ensuring a tidy and engaging welcome centre.
n
· Collect and input statistical information and update heritage, dining, accommodation and other information on our website.
n
· Assist with content creation for social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads, Bluesky and YouTube) by capturing engaging photos and short videos that showcase Stratford’s experiences.
n
· Contribute creative ideas for social media posts, reels, and community engagement.
n
· Help monitor visitor trends and provide input on emerging opportunities for promotion.
n
· Support special marketing projects and events such as Lights On Stratford, Savour & Sip Trail, and Stratford After Dark.
n
· Support media and social media influencers by preparing custom itineraries.
n
Skills
n· Excellent oral and written communication skillsn
· Superior spelling and grammar

· Outstanding interpersonal skills

· Ability to work well independently

· Exceptional problem solving and organizational skills
n
· Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Drive
n
· Solid understanding of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads, Bluesky and YouTube)
n
· Experience creating or curating engaging visual content (photos, videos, stories, reels)
n
· Basic photography and videography skills, including smartphone content creation
n
· Ability to write engaging, audience-appropriate captions and posts
n
· Understanding of branding, tone, and consistent messaging
n
· Knowledge of current digital and social trends relevant to tourism and community engagement
n
· Interest in analytics and learning how to track engagement and performance
n
· Experience with Canva or other simple design tools is an asset
n
· Secondary language(s) is an asset
n

Requirements: This position is funded in part by the Government of Ontario and this position is part of the Government of Ontario’s Summer Employment Opportunities Program (SEO).
n
SEO Program position provides training, work experience and skills transferable to the general workforce and to future careers. The position focuses on activities that support the key sectors of tourism, culture, sport, and recreation.
n
Position placements are expected to provide employment for a minimum employment contract length of 217.5 hours or 30 days at 7.25 hours per day.

To meet funding requirements, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria set by the Government of Ontario as part of the Government of Ontario’s Summer Employment Opportunities Program:
