CecilKids! Summer Day Camp offers children ages 5 to12 the opportunity to learn, stay healthy, make recent friends, try current activities, and have fun! Our camp provides a safe, fun and active environment in which children can develop new skills, self-esteem and friendships. Campers will enjoy daily activities at the Cecil Community Centre, as well as weekly visits to various places of interest throughout the city. Activities vary from week to week (Arts & Crafts, Group Games, Sports, Movies and Swimming) and are designed to be age appropriate.

Summer Camp Counsellor, Floater

The Summer Day Camp Counsellor will report to the Summer Day Camp Coordinator. We are seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our team as Camp Counselors. The Camp Counsellor (Junior) work with children ages 4-7 years old. The Camp Counsellor (Senior) work with children ages 8-11 years old. Help plan events and lead group events, monitor campers and respond to incidents, such as behavioral problems or accidents, log events and maintain records relating to activities, and discuss camper participation and concerns with parents and other camp staff members.

The Summer Camp After Care Counselor will report to the Summer Day Camp Coordinator. We are seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our team as Camp Counselors. The After Care Camp Counsellor will work to supervise Children who are registered for aftercare. During the hours they are in camp before aftercare they will be assisting other camper groups as needed and will set up activities for aftercare. The Camp Counsellor will help plan events and lead group events, monitor campers and respond to incidents, such as behavioral problems or accidents, log events and maintain records relating to activities,



and discuss camper participation and concerns with parents and other camp staff members.

The Summer Day Camp Floater Counsellor will report to the Summer Day Camp Coordinator. We are seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our team as Camp Counselors. The Camp Counsellor works with children ages 5-12 years old. Floaters will assist camp groups with additional needs or support counselor groups. Help plan events and lead group events, monitor campers and respond to incidents, such as behavioral problems or accidents, log events and maintain records relating to activities, and discuss camper participation and concerns with parents and other camp staff members.

Camp Counsellor Responsibilities:

● Supervise and ensure the safety of campers at all times

● Leading and supporting campers as they participate in age-appropriate activities.

● Foster a positive and inclusive camp environment

● Provide guidance and support to campers in their personal growth and development

● Cleaning, maintaining and ensuring proper use of camp facilities and equipment.

● Reporting and recording details of incidents, such as accidents or rule violations, to parents and camp staff.

● Collaborate with other camp staff to create a memorable camp experience for all participants

● Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding camper progress and any concerns

● Memorizing all emergency procedures and enforcing camp rules.

Camp Counsellor Requirements:





● Previous experience working with children, such as tutoring or early childhood education

● Ability to work well in a team setting

● Energetic, patient, and enthusiastic attitude

● CPR and First Aid certification (Required)

● Ability to pass a background check (Required)

Hours and Wages: 35 hours per week; $19.20 per hour. This is a 9 week contract (June 29 to August 28, 2026) Applicants should be 16-30 years old and eligible to work in Canada.
