Position Overview:
As the Director of Corporate Partnerships, you will spearhead the development and execution of Winnipeg EDT’s corporate partnership program, oversee event management, and drive revenue generation efforts across Winnipeg EDT teams.
Reporting to the VP of Marketing, Communications, and Corporate Partnerships, the Director, Corporate Partnerships will work closely with the VP of Business Development, Corporate Services and Market Intelligence and the VP of Tourism to align partnership initiatives with broader organizational objectives, including private sector sales and engagement goals. Additionally, you will lead our cross-functional decision-making committee, the Corporate Partnership Governance Team, to collectively review and align on our team’s progress, ensuring cohesive direction as a team.
This role is pivotal to positioning Winnipeg EDT in our Winnipeg business community as Winnipeg’s lead economic development and tourism agency, fostering collaboration amongst our partners to drive economic growth.
Responsibilities/functions:
You will lead the Corporate Partnerships and Events team focused on enhancing partner engagement, generating revenue, and strengthening relationships with stakeholders. Your role will involve collaborating across departments to align partnership objectives with organizational goals and ensure the successful execution of events.
Partner Revenue Generation:
- Identify partner opportunities and lead coordinated efforts to secure long-term profitable growth of our program among existing and prospective partners with an emphasis on private sector growth.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to monitor partner engagement metrics and revenue performance.
- Collaborate with Business Development and Tourism VPs to achieve Corporate Partnership’s revenue targets.
Partner Engagement and Retention:
- Identify key internal stakeholders and establish communication channels to ensure alignment and support for partnership initiatives.
- Oversee the work of the Manager, Partner Engagement and Events to work collaborative with the Manager, Partner Communications and Earned Media to develop an ongoing communications program to deliver sustained value to our partners.
- Own and monitor stakeholder satisfaction and retention metrics, implementing strategies to enhance partner and investor relationships.
- Oversee the execution of Winnipeg EDT’s partner program to protect and grow private sector stakeholders and revenue, in collaboration with senior leadership.
- Partner with the Market Intelligence team to develop and utilize insights from stakeholder feedback and surveys to inform program monitoring and enhancements.
Event Development and Management:
- Lead the strategic development and execution of all corporate partnership events, ensuring alignment with program benefits, organizational objectives and stakeholder expectations.
- Oversee the Manager, Partner Engagement and Events, and Events Coordinator to manage event logistics, including venue selection, vendor management, budget oversight, and participant engagement.
- Lead cross-functional teams across marketing, communications, market intelligence and others to execute event strategies and ensure seamless execution.
- Oversee the organization's attendance and participation in external signature events to maximize networking opportunities and brand visibility.
Team Leadership:
- Directly manage the Corporate Partnership and Events team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support in their roles.
- Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring team members are aligned with organizational goals and priorities.

- Leadership: Experience in leading and managing cross-functional teams, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to achieve organizational goals.
- Project Management: Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
- Strategic Planning: Ability to develop and implement comprehensive partnership strategies aligned with organizational objectives and industry trends.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and insights to drive decision-making and measure the effectiveness of partnership programs.
- Collaboration:
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, leveraging internal resources and expertise to achieve shared goals in a matrixed environment.
- Adaptability: Proficiency in navigating ambiguity and ability to thrive in environments with few established processes, demonstrating flexibility and resourcefulness in problem-solving and decision-making.
education / experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Donor Relations, or related field; MBA is an asset.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in partnership management, event management, donor or community relations, program development, or related roles.
- Sales and Revenue Generation: Track record of successfully generating revenue through strategic partnership opportunities, sales management, and relationship development.
- Partnership Development: Proven ability to identify, cultivate, and maintain partnerships that drive revenue and support organizational objectives.
- Event Management: Demonstrated experience in planning, organizing, and executing successful corporate events, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and stakeholder expectations.
- Experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Office, project management and event management software (e.g., Event Leaf, Monday.com).
- Proven track record of formalized monitoring and reporting systems to track partnership development, event planning, and revenue generation performance.
