As a member of the interdisciplinary team this position is responsible for working all shifts, days, evenings nights and on-call, as assigned. Reporting directly to the on-site senior technologists, the CLXT will be responsible for providing exemplary patient care by applying the regional policies and procedures. The scope of practice is a continuum ranging from basic to highly complex procedures and activities within the x-ray and laboratory departments. Employees shall maintain confidentiality of all APL / AHS information in accordance with HIA, FOIP and other privacy legislation in effect and shall comply at all times with APL / AHS’s information privacy and information security policies.

Description:

As a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist I, you will perform procedures in both the laboratory and in diagnostic imaging, typically in rural sites. You will work as a member of the inter-professional team and be responsible for collecting and analyzing biological specimens, conducting X-ray examinations, ECGs and reporting results. Your responsibilities include preparing patients, venipuncture and micropuncture, routine equipment maintenance,



maintaining supplies and performing quality control procedures as required.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current BCLS-HCP certification required. Proven ability to work within a computer-based environment using Microsoft office suit including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint. Demonstrate proficiency in core laboratory theory including hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, specimen procurement and handling, and transfusion medicine dispense by applying theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios. Current BCLS-HCP certification required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year experience as a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist within a rural hospital facility is an asset. Connect Care Epic training and experience.
