Description
The Faculty of Social Work invites applications for term certain Sessional Instructors in Calgary, Central and Northern Alberta Region (Edmonton), and Southern Alberta Region (Lethbridge) during multiple academic terms.
Accredited by Canadian Association for Social Work Education, the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Calgary strives to offer a strong practice-based program across the province that will prepare students to be leaders in the field of social work. With more than 1000 students currently enrolled in Bachelor'[s, Master's and PhD programs across Alberta, we seek to recruit and retain a diverse and inclusive workforce that will create the future of social work. The faculty offers face-to-face, blended, and online classes to students in our BSW and MSW programs. Our areas of study include, but are not limited to: field education (including field supervision); child welfare; international community development; leadership; clinical practice (e.g. trauma, addictions, mental health, gerontology); practice with individuals, families and groups; practice with communities and organizations; research and social policy; social justice; Africentric Social Work Practice, green social work, social work with Indigenous peoples; and social work with racialized people and marginalized populations.
Position Requirements:
- A completed MSW with a minimum of 2 years of post MSW social work experience
- Current registration in positive standing with the Alberta College of Social Workers, or equivalent regulatory body
- Expertise in the area of study
- Demonstrated history of ongoing professional development in the area of study
- Evidence of excellence in teaching at a post-secondary level that brings passion, mentorship and development of professionalism in the classroom
- Comfortable to be teaching through an online delivery mode using Zoom and D2L
- Incorporate Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Decolonization (EDID) in the course content and teaching
- Incorporate Indigenous perspectives in the subject matter related to the theme of each course
Interested applicants should electronically submit a cover letter expressing their interest referencing their area of expertise and location they would like to teach at, a current CV and three letters of reference that refer to knowledge of area of study and teaching effectiveness. The posting will remain open to accept applications.
