Job Description

On behalf of our client, Affinity is seeking an Integration Lead on a six‑month contract to support and accelerate their enterprise integration program centered on Workato (iPaaS) and ERP‑related system integrations.

This role will act as the primary technical liaison between the organization and its integration partner, ensuring timely delivery, robust technical design, and effective governance across all integration initiatives.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience with iPaaS platforms such as MuleSoft and Boomi, strong API expertise, and the ability to translate business requirements into clear, scalable technical solutions.

Responsibilities

- Act as the technical counterpart to the system integrator, providing direction, clarification, and validation of integration work.
- Review and challenge integration designs to ensure scalability, security, and alignment with organizational standards.
- Remove delivery bottlenecks by providing timely technical guidance and decision-making.
- Monitor progress to ensure integrations are delivered on time and meet quality expectations.
- Translate business requirements into clear integration designs and technical specifications.
- Define:
- Data mappings
- API interaction patterns
- Error handling and retry logic
- Event‑driven workflows

- Ensure consistency across integrations (naming conventions, structure, and design patterns).
- Provide governance across Workato environments (Dev / QA / Prod).
- Ensure proper:

- Version control
- Deployment processes
- Setting separation
- Change management





- Collaborate with internal IT and vendors to maintain a stable, scalable integration platform.
- Establish and enforce standards for:

- Integration documentation
- API definitions
- Workflow diagrams
- Support/runbooks

- Ensure all vendor‑delivered work includes complete and usable documentation.
- Ensure integrations include:

- Logging and monitoring
- Error handling and alerting
- Retry and recovery mechanisms

- Identify and mitigate risks related to fragile or poorly designed integrations.
- Act as a bridge between business, IT, and vendor teams.
- Reduce reliance on internal teams for translation and coordination.
- Provide guidance to stakeholders on integration capabilities and constraints.

Qualifications

- 7+ years of experience in integration development, API engineering, or iPaaS environments.
- Hands‑on experience with at least one iPaaS platform:
- Workato (strongly preferred)
- Boomi, MuleSoft, Azure Integration Services, etc.

- Strong experience with:

- REST / SOAP APIs
- JSON / XML data structures
- Authentication methods (OAuth, API keys, etc.)
- Event‑driven and workflow‑based integrations

- Experience working with systems integrators or external vendors.
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical designs.
