And as part of one of the world’s top engineering firms, you’ll have the chance to create connections and grow professionally while building our future power grid.Your OpportunityThe Intermediate/Senior Transmission Planning Power Systems Studies Engineer conducts a wide range of transmission planning modelling and analysis, including power flow, short circuit, post‑transient, and transient stability studies for system impact studies, load and generation interconnections, and NERC TPL‑001 compliance studies. The applicant shall have experience with PSSE and Python, and experience with PSLF and/or Aspen would be an asset. A strong understanding of the analysis required to carry out these studies in compliance with applicable industry standards is necessary for this position. The ability to lead a team and to carry out projects within defined scope, budget, and schedule is a requisite.This position can be located out of any of Stantec's North American offices and is also open to remote options within this region.Your Key ResponsibilitiesPerform and lead teams carrying out power system modelling and studies using PSS/E, including the following: Power flowTransient (dynamic) analysisPost‑transient analysisShort circuitPreparation of scripts and programming to facilitate large numbers of simulations and automate compilation of resultsLead meetings with the client to initially kick off the project,



review project progress and present results and recommendations.Work with the project team to meet the allotted time, scope, and budget of assigned projects.Prepare and review study reports, identifying assumptions, methodology, analysis, and results.Assist/lead technical proposal development for studies opportunities.Deep understanding of electrical power system and power electronics theory.Experience with PSS/E required, experience with PSLF preferred.Familiarity with Python programming.Experience with other power system simulation tools would be considered an asset.Solid interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively explain and discuss solutions with clients and lead the project team.Self‑motivated and able to collaborate with teammates and clients.Education and ExperienceMinimum Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Ph.D. degree preferred.Minimum 5 years of experience in power systems studies, but more than 10 years of experience preferred.This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.Stantec is a place where the best and brightest come to build on each other’s talents, do exciting work, and make an impact on the world around us.
