This role contributes to two-way communication with the public, media, donors, and community partners by coordinating messaging, campaigns, and events. The incumbent works closely with internal stakeholders to ensure communications are accurate, timely, and aligned with organizational priorities, values, and ethical standards.Key Responsibilities* Coordinate activities that support public awareness of The Salvation Army’s mission, values, programs, and community impact.* Assist with drafting, editing, and distributing press releases for campaigns, special events, disaster responses,



and corporate partner initiatives.* Prepare and coordinate communication materials such as speeches, media releases, newsletters, brochures, digital content, and website updates for defined audiences.* Support the preparation and distribution of crisis communications, including holding statements and follow-up materials.* Monitor and respond to social media and traditional communication channels related to the Ministry Unit or region.* Serve as a point of contact for public and media inquiries, escalating issues as required.* Maintain media and stakeholder distribution lists and ensure information is current and accurate.* Support communications for disaster response activities, ensuring consistent messaging and timely updates.* Coordinate content gathering, including stories, mission impact highlights, and calls to action, working with internal teams and headquarters for approvals.* Support planning and delivery of events, including the Christmas Kettle Campaign, community engagement initiatives, and fundraising or stewardship events.Skills, Education & Qualifications* Completion of a minimum two-year post-secondary diploma in public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.* At least two years of experience in public relations, communications, fundraising, marketing, customer service, or a related field.* Strong written and verbal communication skills,



with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences.* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and working knowledge of digital and social media platforms.* Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks and timelines simultaneously.* Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, sound judgment, and ability to handle confidential information.* Effective interpersonal and relationship-building skills with internal teams, volunteers, and external partners.* Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively.* Valid driver’s license and a clear driver’s abstract; use of a personal vehicle may be required.* Willingness to obtain First Aid/CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training upon hire, if not already certified.**Compensation:**The target hiring range for this position is $52,811.20 to $65,998.40 with a maximum of $79,206.40.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.The Salvation Army will provide reasonable accommodation upon request.
