Position Overview
Reporting to the Controller, the Development Accountant will manage financial reporting and project accounting for a portfolio of residential developments. The role offers meaningful exposure to the full project lifecycle and requires a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, team-driven setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle accounting for multiple residential development projects
- Track and report on project costs, budgets, commitments, and forecasts
- Prepare monthly financial statements and detailed project reporting packages
- Partner closely with development, construction, and operations teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and financial oversight
- Monitor cash flow, construction draws, and lender reporting requirements
- Support year-end processes and liaise with external auditors
- Contribute to process improvements and strengthening internal controls
- Analyze variances and provide financial insights to support strategic project decisions
Qualifications & Experience
- CPA designation (or actively pursuing CPA)
- 3–5+ years of accounting experience, ideally within real estate or development
- Strong project accounting experience (construction or development environment preferred)
- Understanding of residential development cycles and cost structures
- Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems
- Highly collaborative, inquisitive, and detail-oriented
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work full-time in-office in Downtown Vancouver
