SUMMARY AND JOB SCOPE Directs and coordinates activities of the Production Department in processing materials, manufacturing and maintaining product uniformity, and controlling costs within safety and environmental standards while adhering to company policies and industry regulations.

Lead the plant Production Department to produce a high‑quality product and meet or exceed production and efficiency goals—including equipment production rates, energy conservation, power and heat consumption targets, minimizing emissions of greenhouse gases, and increasing profitability.

Member of the Energy Management Team (NRG) responsible for developing and structuring a program committed to using energy cost‑effectively and environmentally responsibly.

Communicate plant/company goals to department employees in a clear and timely manner.

Provide leadership by directing, coaching, supporting, and delegating as the situation requires; resolve worker grievances with assistance of Human Resources.

Serve as a role model in leadership, teamwork, customer focus, continuous improvement, safety, and environmental stewardship.

Build and maintain partnerships between plant departments and company peer groups.

Participate in business plan development and financial budgeting.

Establish and define short‑term objectives with logical, sequenced action plans; formulate or adjust policy, anticipate problems, and revise plans for changed circumstances.

Plan long‑term (strategic) objectives and plant operational improvement projects, preparing specifications and ensuring component parts fit overall design.





Review production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, specifications, and scheduled delivery dates to plan operations.

Plan production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing.

Prepare operational schedules and coordinate manufacturing.

Review production and operating reports and resolve operational and manufacturing problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent delays.

Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.

Develop or revise standard operational procedures and working practices.

Compile, store, and retrieve production data.

Solve problems creatively when dealing with the needs of customers and internal departments.

Find ways to improve operational efficiency; devise new systems or procedures; generate recent solutions to production or equipment problems.

Read, analyze, interpret, and synthesize documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical procedures, business periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations.

Speak and deliver presentations effectively and persuasively on complex topics to employee groups, customers, and management at all levels.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities include overall direction, coordination, development, and evaluation of employees. Process Engineer, Kiln Coordinator, Mill Coordinator, Production Supervisors, and Packhouse/Shipping Supervisor report directly. Hourly Control Room Operators, Assistant Control Room Operators, Utility and Labourers report indirectly.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

University degree (Engineering preferred); 4–6 years of experience, or equivalent.

Motivated self‑starter with strong sense of urgency; focus on safety and plant conditions.

Proven management and leadership skills.

Experience in heavy industry and union environment.

Diplomacy interacting with union and non‑union groups.





Solid organizational and time‑management skills.

Experience improving and managing process improvements.

Problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.

Basic algebra and geometry proficiency.

Common‑sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions.

Project planning software, Microsoft Office, and general computer skills.

Familiarity with machinery, pneumatic and electrical equipment.

Valid driver’s license and passport.

Excellent verbal and written communication.

Cement technology knowledge.
