Operating at the intersection of real estate, private equity, and lending, the company is scaling rapidly and building the infrastructure to support an expanding acquisition platform.
The Role The company is seeking its first In-House Counsel dedicated to acquisitions to support and accelerate its growing portfolio across Canada and the United States.
This is a unique chance to step into a high-impact, deal-driven role where you will work directly with leadership on complex real estate transactions, play a key role in structuring acquisitions, and help shape the legal strategy of a rapidly scaling platform.
You will move beyond traditional legal work and act as a true business partner, advising on transactions from initial underwriting through closing and beyond.
What you'll do: Acquisitions & transactions
Lead legal execution of real estate acquisitions (commercial and multi-residential) across North America
Draft, review, and negotiate: Purchase and sale agreements; Joint venture agreements; Financing and loan agreements; and Commercial and residential leases
Support deal structuring, including entity setup, risk allocation, and tax considerations (with external advisors as needed)
Partner closely with acquisitions, finance, and asset management teams throughout the deal lifecycle
Legal Strategy & Advisory
Advise leadership on transaction strategy, risk, and execution
Support negotiations with vendors, partners, lenders, and brokers
Provide practical, business-oriented legal guidance in a fast-moving environment
Assist in developing scalable legal frameworks and playbooks for acquisitions
Oversee external counsel where litigation arises
Identify and mitigate legal risks across transactions and portfolio operations
Operational Legal Support
Establish and improve internal legal processes and documentation
Support contract standardization and legal best practices across the organization
Contribute to broader strategic initiatives as the company scales
Requirements
3–7 years of experience in real estate law at a top-tier law firm or in-house environment
Strong experience with: Real estate transactions (acquisitions/dispositions), commercial leasing, and real estate financing
Comfortable drafting and negotiating complex agreements independently
Solid understanding of lending structures, deal mechanics, and risk allocation
Member of a Canadian bar (Quebec membership or eligibility is an asset)
