Job Summary

This position is responsible for reviewing and understanding plans and specifications, and ensuring completed work meets the stated requirements. Located at the Woodstock plant, it requires diligent compliance with safety regulations. The Quality Control Specialist must read and interpret shop drawings, be detail oriented, and manage priorities and deadlines while following guidelines, structure, and established procedures. In addition to the standard Quality Inspector duties, this role requires the ability to interpret complex structural drawings, understand and measure the setup and reinforcement required for complex concrete products.

Responsibilities

- Interpret complex engineering drawings: unit drawings, sections, layouts, elevations
- Inspect and measure intricate formwork, reinforcement, and special hardware
- Communicate with Engineering to review drawing issues that cause setup complications
- Inspect intricate hardware with special welding requirements
- Casting, testing and inspecting precast concrete structures for bridge girders, wall panels and parking garage components, in accordance with building codes, drawings and specifications
- Monitor the manufacturing process for quality and compliance with design and specification requirements
- Inspect completed concrete product components to ensure quality meets engineering design and project requirements




- Monitor and perform all concrete tests at plant and on site, as required
- Conduct lab testing and calibration activities
- Collect and test raw materials
- Identify and report work that does not meet design requirements
- Create and complete project reports: pre‑pour, post‑pour, stressing reports, NCR reports
- Maintain project records including engineering drawings, project reports and material test reports
- Suggest improvements to current processes
- Implement approved corrective actions when required
- Collaborate with Engineering and Drafting departments to review project and design requirements
- Communicate effectively with all departments including internal and external customers
- Work safely in accordance with company and provincial standards and report any unsafe work

Technical Requirements

- Civil/Engineering diploma or related field
- Experience in pre‑stressed precast, complex wood and steel forming, CWB welding
- Quality inspector experience in precast concrete materials
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and set‑up requirements
- Knowledge and hands‑on experience with specialized design and drafting software tools, including AutoCAD, 3D modelling; experience with Tekla is a definite asset
- ACI/PCI certifications an asset or willingness to pursue certifications
