Duties
Plans, organizes, schedules, supervises and delivers services operations to provide visitors of the park with opportunities to discover, appreciate, learn about and enjoy the place and its natural and/or cultural resources and understand their significance to Canada.

Work Setting
Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites across Canada.

Operational Requirements

- Work shift work, irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required.
- Be exposed to variable weather conditions when moving between facilities and working outdoor.
- Wear a Parks Canada uniform as per the Parks Canada uniform policy.
- Be exposed to noxious odors from car fumes, to dust, cleaning products and wet conditions.
- Occasionally demonstrate tasks to others.

Vehicle and Transportation Requirements

- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 05 driver’s license.
- Must provide own transportation to and from the workplace.

Education





A minimum of 2 years post-secondary education or acceptable combination of education, training and experience relevant to the position.

Experience

- Experience in planning and/or providing services to the public.
- Experience in providing leadership, either when supervising employees or through other means.

Knowledge (applied / assessed at a later date)

- Knowledge of scheduling, performance evaluation, recruitment and training processes.
- Knowledge of quality customer/visitor service standards and approaches.

Abilities (applied / assessed at a later date)

- Ability to proactively address situations and issues.
- Ability to listen to others and communicate articulately, fostering open communication to internal and/or external clients.
- Ability to anticipate needs, resolve complaints and determine course of action.

Personal Suitability (applied / assessed at a later date)

- Exercise Sound Judgement (Think Things Through).
- Shows Initiative.

Language requirements (essential for the job)

Bilingual - Intermediate (B) level evaluation results in oral proficiency in English or French prior to hiring.
