RESPONSIBILITIES
Working with clients on a day-to-day basis to ensure projects meet the client’s expectations and requirements.
Create & manage engineering project proposal and budgets.
Work with team to ensure all projects are delivered with the highest level of quality, on schedule, and on budget.
Perform various types of structural assessments and inspections on existing client infrastructure and prepare reports providing detailed observations and findings. Perform peer reviews on designs and reports.
Mentor, build, and lead the structural team. Create and oversee the development of designs for a variety of structural applications across various market segments served such as but not limited to:
Mining Sector (Surface and Underground)
Commercial
Institutional
Pulp & Paper
Residential
Meet with clients (at their sites and online) as required to fulfill project requirements.
Create and foster a positive work environment for team members and building office morale.
Responsible for ensuring that workload is balanced with available manpower.
Review and approve designs within their given discipline.
Travel to client sites & perform site visits to scope projects and collect necessary data and information to complete projects.
Ensure that all applicable labor laws and regulations are adhered to.
Implement Shield’s health and safety program & help ensure that all rules and regulations are being followed.
Promote and develop recent business opportunities. This may include the need to travel to various client sites within the province, nationally, and internationally.
QUALIFICATIONS
Proven project management skills, ensuring budgets and timelines are being met.
Self-starter who is motivated to be part of and contribute to the growth of the team.
Professional Engineer licensed in the province of Ontario.
15 years of relevant experience, preferably in a consulting environment.
Charismatic; able to network and build strong rapports with clients and team members.
Proven ability to motivate and manage co-workers.
Proactive in identifying projects that exceed budgets and timelines.
Exceptional problem solving/analytical skills.
A valid driver’s license.
The candidate must be a professional engineer licensed in the province of Ontario. The candidate must have a good working knowledge of reading both structural and/or mechanical drawings as well as the amount of effort required to create them.
Environmental Conditions The candidate is expected to work within the work environments listed above (mining plants, underground mines, hydroelectric stations, etc.) and work within the safety requirements of the clients requirements. Site Specific training will be provided.
