About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Network Specialist / Architect to support and enhance complex network environments within the oil & gas sector. This role is ideal for a technical expert who can design and integrate robust network infrastructures across field and corporate environments, including acquisition-related projects, while collaborating with cross-functional teams and vendors.
Responsibilities:
Project Management & Delivery
- Define project scope, timelines, and cost estimates for network initiatives.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, engineers, and vendors to deliver multiple concurrent infrastructure projects.
- Provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
- Design, implement, and optimize secure, scalable network architectures across industrial and enterprise environments.
- Lead detailed network design including routing, switching, firewalls, and Ethernet-based systems.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including network diagrams, wiring layouts, and technical specifications.
- Ensure all designs meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and cybersecurity best practices, particularly within OT/industrial environments.
Infrastructure Integration & Acquisitions
- Lead network assessments and integration activities for newly acquired assets and infrastructures.
- Develop integration strategies to align acquired systems with corporate network standards.
- Partner with vendors to design, procure, and implement network solutions.
- Act as a key technical liaison between IT, OT, and business teams to ensure alignment on requirements and execution.
Operations & Reliability
- Support and enhance network performance, availability, and security across field sites and corporate locations.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues and implement sustainable solutions.
- Continuously improve network standards, documentation, and processes.

- Network Architecture & Design (routing, switching, firewalls, Ethernet).
- IT/OT Infrastructure Integration (industrial and enterprise environments).

- Fiber Optic and Ethernet Network Design & Field Connectivity.

Risk & Compliance (cybersecurity standards, regulatory alignment).
- Network Troubleshooting & Performance Optimization.
- Cross-Functional Communication (IT, OT, operations, engineering, vendors).
- Willingness to travel across North America.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering (or closely related engineering discipline)- P.Eng designation is required.
- 8–12+ years of experience in network engineering, architecture, or related roles.
- Strong knowledge of OT/ICS protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus, DNP3, OPC-UA and PROFINET.
- Proven experience working in complex and diverse network environments, preferably within oil & gas or industrial settings.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including scoping projects, estimating costs, managing timelines, and coordinating with multiple stakeholders and Project Managers.
- Experience supporting infrastructure integration during acquisitions or mergers
- Experience working with vendors on network design and implementation.
- Solid knowledge of network standards, compliance, and cybersecurity best practices (IT/OT).
- Hands-on experience with network design, network segmentation, including routing, switching, firewall configuration, and Ethernet technologies.
- Familiarity with NIST CSF, IEC 62443, ISA/IEC 99 cybersecurity frameworks.
- Proficiency in VPNs, VLANs, IDS/IPS, NAC, and secure remote access solutions.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent are considered an asset.
