One of our clients, a major oil and gas company, has tasked us with identifying a Planning and Forecast Advisor to support the integration, maintenance, and analysis of an Integrated Project Schedule within a large, complex capital project environment. The role is based in Calgary, Alberta, on a contract basis through May 2028.

Reporting to the Program Office Manager and working under the functional guidance of the Planning & Reporting Lead, this position focuses on schedule integration, forecasting support, data validation, and structured planning and reporting activities across multiple workstreams. This role provides a strong platform for developing advanced planning and project controls capability and includes functional oversight of one Planning and Forecast Analyst.

Key Accountabilities

Integrated Schedule Support

- Support the integration of multiple workstream schedules into a single Integrated Project Schedule.
- Consolidate schedule updates, forecasts, and milestone changes using agreed structures, standards, and templates.
- Assist with tracking interface milestones and supporting schedule logic alignment under the guidance of senior planning personnel.

Schedule Analysis and Forecast Support

- Support schedule performance analysis based on workstream forecast updates.
- Assist in identifying variances, emerging trends, and potential schedule risks or impacts.
- Prepare initial analysis outputs and summary materials for review by the Planning & Reporting Lead and Project Services leadership.

Data Validation and Quality Assurance

- Validate and verify schedule updates and progress inputs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Check alignment between schedule data, reported progress, and agreed planning assumptions.
- Maintain planning data logs, assumptions registers, update trackers, and forecast records.

Reporting and Planning Outputs

- Support preparation of planning and schedule reports, dashboards, and visual outputs.




- Update schedule KPIs and progress summaries using approved templates and tools.
- Ensure timely and accurate incorporation of inputs into monthly and periodic reporting cycles.
- Execute assigned planning tasks in line with established planning processes and controls, escalating data gaps or inconsistencies as required.

Interfaces and Collaboration

- Work closely with workstream planners, project controls teams, and contractors.
- Coordinate with planning teams across engineering, construction, and operations interfaces.
- Engage with internal stakeholders across multiple locations and time zones to resolve planning and schedule issues.
- Remain informed of industry trends, vendor packages, and key equipment lead times to support realistic and competitive schedule development.

Experience and Qualifications

Essential Experience

- Early career experience or exposure to project controls, planning, scheduling, or related disciplines.
- Approximately eight years of experience within large capital project environments in the energy sector.




- Experience as a planner on major projects during execution phases is an advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- Strong analytical capability with solid data handling and coordination skills.
- Effective listening, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working across multiple geographical locations and time zones.

Technical Capabilities

Schedule Integration

- Ability to support the integration of multiple workstream schedules into an Integrated Project Schedule.
- Foundational understanding of schedule logic, milestones, dependencies, and interfaces.
- Ability to consolidate schedule updates and forecasts using defined standards and templates.

Schedule Analysis (Foundational)

- Ability to perform basic schedule analysis, including baseline versus forecast comparisons, milestone movement tracking, and simple trend assessments.
- Supports preparation of analysis outputs for senior planning review.

Data Validation and Assurance

- Ability to validate and verify schedule and progress data for completeness, consistency, and alignment with planning assumptions.
- Maintains data integrity across schedules, dashboards, and reports.

Planning Tools and Systems

- Working knowledge of planning and reporting tools such as Primavera P6, Excel, Power BI, or equivalent.
- Ability to extract, manipulate, and update schedule data for reporting and analysis purposes.
- Willingness and capability to learn additional planning systems and digital tools.

Reporting and Execution

- Supports preparation of schedule KPIs, dashboards, and progress visuals.
- Executes assigned planning tasks accurately within established processes and controls.
- Understands when and how to escalate data quality issues or clarification needs.
- Works effectively under the direction of the Planning & Reporting Lead in a structured project setting.
