We are currently seeking a talented Bilingual French/English Vice-Principal & Teacher Mentor teacher (1.0 FTE) to join the École Whitehorse Elementary School team from August 20, 2026 – June 12, 2027.

Whitehorse Elementary is a single-track French Immersion school, Grades

K-7 with a student population of approximately 475.

Our bilingual students enjoy learning in

French everyday with specialty classes in music, outdoor education, Applied Art and Design, and Physical Education,

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

nPlease clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:n

- Bachelor of Education degree or equivalent;
n
- Recent experience in leadership in a large school setting;
n
- Recent experience teaching at the primary/intermediate level with differentiating instruction to meet student's needs;
n
- Master's degree or equivalent in Education or equivalent.
n

- Decision making skills which demonstrate effective listening, ability to accommodate,



and to mediate diverse views from all stake holders and the commitment to seeking cooperative resolution;n

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain rapport with students, parents, staff,nand school council;n

- Strong classroom management, planning and organizational skills;n

- Ability to support a school wide transition to 21st Century Learning Models;n
n
- Ability to support appropriate IndividualnEducation, Student Behavior, and Safety Plans within the classroom;

- Commitment to create a shared vision to build upon the strengths in the school and move the school forward in its curricular,nco-curricular and extra-curricular programs;

n

- Comprehensive knowledge of elementary curriculum and teaching strategies;
- Ability to work as a collaborative team member with qualified staff, department personnel, school paraprofessional, and other staff members;

n

- A knowledge and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of Yukon First Nations and a culturally-diverse student population

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

n

- Criminal Record/RCMP Check with Vulnerable Sector; to be provided before the first day of employment, dated no more than 3 months prior to your start date
- Yukon Teacher Certification; learn about the certification process

n

- Yukon First Nations 101 , to be completed at your first opportunity.
- The desired French proficiency level for this position is Level C1.

n

Proficiency may be tested as part of the assessment process.
