Position: Travel Counsellor – The CAT Ferry
n
Join our team as a Travel Counsellor aboard the CAT high-speed ferry. This role involves working on the ferry route between Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, and Bar Harbor, Maine, providing visitors with essential travel, hospitality, and accommodation information while promoting tourism in Yarmouth & Acadian Shores and throughout Nova Scotia.

Key Responsibilities
nAs a Visitor Information Agent, you will:n
n
- Provide travel advice and assist visitors with their plans.
n
- Create customized itineraries for travelers.
n
nSpecific Dutiesn
n
- Answer visitor inquiries in person, over the phone, via email, or online.
n
- Recommend tours, experiences, travel routes, accommodations, restaurants and attractions.
n
- Distribute brochures and informational materials.
n
- Maintain literature and stock of tourism resources.
n
- Provide guidance on transportation and travel, accommodations, and tour options.
n
- Perform general clerical and administrative tasks.
n
- Track visitor statistics and maintain records.
n
- Assist with onboard entertainment activities and ship tours.
n
nThis position reports to the YASTA Tourism Development Manager. While on board The CAT, employees must adhere to Bay Ferries’ policies and procedures.nQualifications & Requirementsn
n
- Proficiency in internet-based tools (Google Maps, Google Mail, Tourism Websites).
n
- Strong written communication skills in English.
n
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
n
- Ability to research and stay informed on local destinations.
n
- Positive attitude and enthusiasm for customer service.
n
- Valid Canadian passport (expiry date beyond April. 2027)
n
- Solid interpersonal skills and confidence in sharing information.
n
- Willingness to learn, take initiative, and manage projects.
n
- Experience in tourism or hospitality (preferred but not required).
n
nAssets (Not Required, but Preferred)n
n
- Previous experience in the tourism industry (YASTA is willing to train).
n
- Ability to communicate in French.
n
nPosition Detailsn

- Duration: May 14,, 2026 – October 14, 2026 (Seasonal)
n
- Hours: 24–48 hours per week (varies)
n
- Compensation: Based on experience
