Job Summary:
This role is an integral part of a team dedicated to developing and deploying creative solutions using high pulsed power to the energy sector.
This role supports engineering, production, and sustaining teams by providing accurate test data, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with internal and external standards. This Technician will be responsible for preparing and conducting equipment repairs, tool maintenance, new tool manufacturing, application and tool testing, and calibration of Blue Spark's high-pulsed power equipment. The Technician is also responsible for conducting tests, measurements, and inspections on products, components, and systems to validate performance, reliability, and safety.
Collaboration with internal and external partners is crucial to establish and prioritize short- and long-term goals, ensuring the provision of necessary expertise, skills, and services to accomplish these objectives.
Key Accountabilities
Maintenance, Repair, and Equipment Readiness
- Ensure BLUESPARK® tools and associated surface equipment are maintained to the highest operational standards by performing scheduled, preventative, and emergency maintenance and inspections.
- Execute maintenance and repair schedules aligned with operational demands.
- Conduct and document maintenance, repair, and testing activities in Salesforce or other designated systems.
Manufacturing
- Manufacture BLUESPARK® tools and associated surface equipment according to the standards and specifications set out in company work instructions.
- Manufacture sub-assemblies in accordance with Work Instructions.
- Conduct and document all manufacturing and testing activities in Salesforce or other designated systems.
Testing & Measurement
- Set up, operate, and maintain test benches, instruments, and measurement equipment.
- Perform functional, performance, environmental, and reliability tests according to procedures and specifications.
- Record test conditions, data, and results accurately and consistently.
- Validate that products meet required specifications, standards, and quality criteria.
Troubleshooting & Analysis
- Identify test anomalies, failures, or product defects.
- Perform basic diagnostic activities to determine root causes.
- Support engineers in developing corrective actions and retests.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare detailed test reports with measurements, observations, and results.
- Maintain clear records of setups, configurations, and calibration statuses.
- Follow test procedures, safety protocols, and compliance requirements.
Collaboration
- Work closely with engineers, production, R&D; teams, and quality assurance.
- Provide feedback on test procedures and propose improvements.
- Support prototype builds, design verification, and validation testing.
HSE, Quality, and Resource Coordination
- Maintain safe, clean, and organized workstations and participate in regular workplace inspections.
- Promote a strong safety and quality culture to support efficient operations.
- Participate in root cause analyses and collaborate with internal and external teams to implement procedural, technical, and facility improvements.
- Capture and implement lessons learned through repair activities, field feedback, and procedural reviews.
- Monitor KPIs to drive performance and continuous improvement.
- Adhere to and actively promote company HSE and QA procedures to protect personnel, assets, and the environment.
- Verify manufacturing and repair equipment certifications and calibrations remain current and compliant.
- Work with supply chain and planning departments to manage parts inventory and address production related issues.
- Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.
- Support the upkeep and organization of the HV area to ensure a safe and well-maintained work environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a related technical field
- Diploma or technical certificate in electronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, instrumentation, or related field.
- Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and test plans.
- Previous experience with repair and maintenance of downhole tools is an asset.
- Strong understanding of test instruments
- Experience in R&D; or field testing.
- Experience with LabVIEW, PLCs, DAQ systems, or automated test scripts will be a plus.
- Ability to work safely with high-voltage or high-power equipment.
- Proven mechanical aptitude and knowledge of tool design, production and maintenance principles.
- Excellent planning and organizational abilities.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Basic knowledge of data acquisition systems, automated test equipment, or software tools.
- Ability to pass Pre-Employment screening requirements.

- A proven track record of displaying effective critical thinking skills to analyze and solve problems using collaboration, creativity, and open-mindedness.

- Intermediate + level competence in various technical platforms including Microsoft programs and collaborative team technologies and platforms (Office 365, SharePoint, Zoom)
