- Manage capital and maintenance security requirements through assigned personnel and contractors, ensuring emergency plans and procedures are created, developed, implemented, and maintained.
- Provide oversight to multiple overlapping projects, ensuring effective resource use and limiting financial impacts.
- Conduct or oversee corporate security investigations and act as a corporate security representative in association with law enforcement and emergency services personnel.
- Establish key performance indicators and service level agreements for driving performance of corporate security.
- Identify applicable policies, patterns and practices to ensure the evolution of corporate security management practices, lead assessment of emerging risks, evaluate impacts, and develop long‑range plans for cost effectiveness.
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, operational teams, external agencies, and business partners; provide consultative support and oversee vendor relationships and contracts.
- Identify and resolve complex security escalations, project issues,
and other matters involving financial and operational impacts; implement best‑practice processes and provide guidance to personnel.
- Maintain ongoing awareness of security standards, best practices, and industry developments.
- Manage a team of professionals, conduct performance reviews, set clear objectives, provide coaching and feedback, manage budgets, staffing resources, and financial planning, while influencing overall business strategies.
What it takes:
- A university degree in business administration, law, law enforcement, or public administration plus a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
- Advanced knowledge in developing investigative strategies and conducting investigations of a complex and sensitive nature across multiple sites.
- Proven ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in handling confidential or sensitive matters.
- Expertise in interpreting and applying Federal, Provincial, and Municipal statutes, including the Occupational Health & Safety Act, the BC Human Rights Code, and other employment‑related legislation and policies.
- Exceptional communication and project management skills to engage stakeholders across the business while leading corporate security strategies.
- Strong presentation, facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
