Job Overview / Purpose: To fill a vacancy in the General Manager’s role within a property on a short‑term basis, providing stability to residents, staff, and the community.
Key Accountabilities
Resident Relations
- Ensure a safe, secure environment for all residents and comply with all legislation.
- Protect residents’ well‑being and comfort; make operational decisions that maintain profitability and meet the Company’s expectations for a successful retirement residence.
- Maintain quality care, resident life safety and services.
- Address resident, family, staff, and community concerns immediately and channel them to the Director, Operations & Sales (DOS).
- Report all regulatory inspection reports to DOS.
Leadership
- Lead Marketing Management Operations Meetings and provide reports to the DOS.
- Represent Management at council meetings; review minutes and respond to requests.
- Identify operational decision points and report to DOS.
- Maintain a solid foundation of day‑to‑day operations.
Budget & Financial
- Implement, evaluate, and control payroll practices, ensuring fairness and compliance.
- Administer petty cash funds and maintain records per Company policy; submit vouchers monthly to Head Office.
- Ensure adherence to AP & AR procedures and the P&P.;
Marketing & Occupancy
- Monitor daily occupancy of the property.
- Implement programs to attract and retain residents.
- Conduct personal visits when Sales Consultant/CRM is absent.
- Complete RTA/CHIP agreements in accordance with company P&P.;
Regulatory Compliance
- Provide Head Office with all necessary reports promptly; handle all matters with town officials (Health Inspections, Fire Reports, Building Inspections, etc.) as required by the Parent Company.
Operational and Administrative Systems
- Support staff in HR or labor relations matters and report issues to DOS.
- Report incidents requiring disciplinary action (suspension, termination) to DOS.
- Report major deficiencies to the physical plant or emergencies to DOS.
- Familiarize with CSH P&P; and direct any non‑compliance to DOS.
- Work in compliance with RHRA regulations.
Other
- Understand lines of authority, flexibility, and communication within the Company.
- Demonstrate accountability for own actions.
- Follow all health and safety policies and procedures.
- Work safely to reduce injury risk to self, co‑workers, and residents.
- Identify, remedy, and promptly report hazardous situations.
- Wear personal protective equipment or clothing as required.
- Conduct oneself in accordance with employee conduct policy while living on site.
Qualifications
- Graduate of a certificate, diploma, or degree in nursing, social work, gerontology, hospitality, or business.
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in retirement or hospitality operations.
- Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal skills,
operational management, and customer service in progressively responsible roles.
- Self‑directed, accountable, and capable of identifying and reporting issues; proven leadership skills.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to travel extensively across Canada West and live on site at the assigned retirement residence.
- Must maintain confidentiality, privacy, and conduct while living on site.
- When not assigned to a property, the expectation is to work at the corporate office and provide support as assigned.
- Flexible work hours.
