Summer Student, Technology Adoption & Site Engagement

Job Description

Posted Friday, April 10, 2026 at 6:00 a.m.

Boardwalk provides Canadians with a quality, comfortable, home living experience. We offer rental apartments and townhouses that come in a wide breadth of shapes, sizes and sets of amenities. We operate over 34,000 units across Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Saskatchewan, and Quebec.

Overview:

This is a field role. You’ll travel to Boardwalk communities, help Associates and Resident Members get the most out of our technology, provide hands‑on support, and bring back the insights that drive our improvements. Most of your time will be spent on‑site, meeting people, building trust, asking questions, and making technology feel genuinely useful.

What You’ll Do:

Site Visits & Technology Adoption

- Travel to Boardwalk residential communities to assess how Associates and Residents are using technology
- Identify adoption gaps, quick wins, and opportunities for improvement at each site
- Help onboard teams onto key platforms – Internally developed applications, Microsoft 365, and other tools
- Run drop‑in support sessions, live demos, and small‑group onboarding at each community alongside our IT team

Application Support

- Provide first‑line support for internal platform and M365 questions at the sites you visit
- Identify what support Associates may need with workflows: maintenance jobs, move‑in / move‑out, digital leasing, and the Member Portal
- Assist with testing configurations and updates before they go live
- Log and organize support requests, escalating complex issues to the Application Support team

Training & Enablement

- Deliver hands‑on training on Boardwalk’s core tools once you have been trained

- Introduce site teams to AI tools in practical, hands‑on ways, demonstrate real use cases relevant to their day‑to‑day work and help them build confidence using AI safely and effectively
- Help us adapt training based on what you observe; every site is at a different place
- Help develop or update training materials and publish content to SharePoint and Teams

Discovery & Insights

- Ask thoughtful questions to understand what is working, what isn’t, and how technology can better serve Associates and Residents
- Summarize site observations into clear notes and patterns for the technology team
- Track and report adoption trends across communities

Who You Are:

- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a program in Business, Communications, HR, IT, or a related field
- Genuinely comfortable meeting and engaging with people you’ve never met; trust‑building is at the heart of this role
- Naturally curious: you ask valuable questions, listen carefully, and follow the thread
- Clear communicator in person, in writing, and over Microsoft Teams
- Organized and dependable, you document what you learn and do what you said you would
- Hands‑on experience with AI tools and genuinely enthusiastic about them – you can meet someone who has never used AI, show them something useful in five minutes, and leave them wanting to learn more
- Comfortable with Microsoft 365 tools (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Additional Requirements:

- Valid driver’s licence
- Access to a reliable personal vehicle (travel to Boardwalk communities is a core requirement of this role)

Offers of employment will be contingent on satisfactory Security Background Checks, Reference Checks, and Pre‑employment Physical Testing where applicable.
