The Program

Reporting to the Director of Employment & Social Enterprise we are seeking a hands-on Crew Supervisor to lead our new renovation and maintenance Social Enterprise that supports our mission of creating safe, welcoming spaces. As we build and grow this start-up initiative, we need someone who can pivot, take initiative, and thrive in a dynamic environment. You’ll work closely with a small team to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This role is ideal for someone with trade experience who enjoys mentoring others, solving problems, and making a tangible impact in the community.

The Position

- Lead renovation and repair work including painting, drywall, flooring, carpentry, and general maintenance.
- Assign daily tasks, supervise crew members, and provide on-the-job training and mentorship to staff and crew workers




- Plan and organize job tasks and crew schedules to ensure projects are completed on time.
- Coordinate material orders, tools, and supplies required for each project.
- Liaise with tradespeople, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers when required.
- Monitor quality of work and ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S;) regulations and safe work practices.
- Communicate clearly with clients, team members, and internal staff regarding project progress and timelines.
- Track material purchases, maintain project documentation, and support estimates and invoicing in coordination with CJHS administrative and finance teams.
- Provide regular business updates to the Director of Employment & Social Enterprise.

Qualifications

- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in renovation, construction, or building maintenance.
- Proven experience supervising a small team or crew.
- Comfortable using mobile devices (phone/tablet) and computers for scheduling, communication and job tracking.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
