SEASONAL PUBLIC WORKS LABOURER

Temporary Full-Time 4 Months

(Potential for Extension or Future Opportunities)

POSITION SUMMARY

The Tsawwassen First Nation (TFN) Public Works Department is seeking a motivated and reliable Seasonal Public Works Labourer to support a variety of outdoor maintenance and infrastructure activities within the community. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience, develop skills in municipal operations, and contribute to the care and upkeep of TFN’s public spaces.

This position is ideal for individuals who are physically fit, enjoy outdoor work, and demonstrate a solid work ethic. While this is a seasonal role, exceptional performance may lead to extended or permanent employment opportunities. Contribute directly to the maintenance and improvement of community infrastructure. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Perform general labour duties including landscaping, grounds maintenance, and site clean-up
- Mow lawns, trim grass, weed, and maintain landscaped areas
- Assist with road, sidewalk, and drainage maintenance projects
- Support community clean-up activities, large item pickup, and debris removal
- Load, unload, and move materials and equipment safely
- Operate basic hand tools and small equipment
- Assist with special projects and community events
- Adhere to all safety procedures and report hazards to supervisors

QUALIFICATIONS

- Strong work ethic, reliability, and a willingness to learn




- Positive attitude and ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Previous experience in landscaping, construction, or labour work
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Safety certifications such as First Aid or WHMIS

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

- Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated
- Respectful of community members and the environment
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow instructions and prioritize tasks

WORKING CONDITIONS

- Outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Physically demanding tasks including lifting, bending, and prolonged standing
- Use of hand tools and small equipment, with strict adherence to safety standards

HOURS OF WORK

- Hours of work are a scheduled total of 40 hours per week
- Standard hours Monday–Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm, with occasional evening or weekend work based on community needs

COMPENSATION

- $26.94 to $28.62 per hour. Placement within the pay scale is based on a review of skills, experience and internal equity.
