Position: Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Response Team Worker
Employment Type: Temporary,full-time, in-scope term position to March 31, 2027;

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Response Team Worker is part of a pilot project developed in partnership with the Saskatoon Police Service to support individuals impacted by intimate partner violence. This includes individuals at risk of using or who are using violence, as well as individuals at risk of or experiencing violence within an intimate relationship.
As a member of the IPV Response Team, the Worker provides trauma‑and violence-informed, risk‑responsive interventions tailored to individual needs. For those using or at risk of using violence, the Worker conducts risk assessments and collaborates on individualized intervention strategies. For those experiencing or at risk of experiencing violence, the Worker provides targeted supports including safety planning, crisis counselling, outreach services, education, and connection to community resources.
The IPV Response Team works collaboratively to address service delivery challenges, identify service gaps, and reduce barriers to accessing supports for individuals affected by intimate partner violence. Duties are performed in alignment with the mission, values, and policies of Family Service Saskatoon.
This position is based at the Saskatoon Police Service and reports to the Director of Programs, Family Service Saskatoon.
Key Duties:
· Process and respond to referrals identified as high risk for intimate partner violence, in collaboration with Saskatoon Police Service.
· Accompany Saskatoon Police Service officer to locations throughout the community, including home visits, to support individuals involved in situations of actual or potential intimate partner violence.
· Conduct risk assessments to identify safety concerns, relationship dynamics, and risk factors such as violence and coercive control, regardless of whether criminal charges are laid.
· Provide individualized,
trauma- and violence-informed interventions aimed at reducing risk and enhancing safety.
· Support individuals impacted by intimate partner violence through safety planning, short-term crisis counselling, advocacy, outreach, and referral to community resources.
· Maintain cooperative relationships with police, referral sources, and community partners to support coordinated and effective service delivery.
· Contribute to program development, prevention initiatives, and public education activities, including workshops, presentations, and group-based interventions.
· Participate in agency and community meetings, training, and ongoing professional development.
· Complete accurate and timely case documentation, reports, and statistical records in accordance with agency policies and legislative requirements.
· Participate in clinical supervision with the Director of Programs.
· Assist with supervision of peers, students and individual cases as required by the agency from time to time.
· May be required to perform work outside of regular operating hours, including evenings and/or weekends.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
· Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work degree required.
· One to three years of direct experience in a relevant area.
· Eligibility for registration with, and ability to maintain good standing in, a relevant professional association.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Knowledge and application of counselling theories and practices, including short-term and crisis counselling
· Understanding of human development, behaviour, and change
· Knowledge of communication, conflict resolution,
interviewing, assessment, and evaluation techniques
· Demonstrated knowledge of intimate partner violence dynamics, with experience supporting individuals who have experienced violence as well as those who use or are at risk of using violence in relationships
· Experience applying trauma‑ and violence‑informed approaches
· Strong understanding of community resources and services related to intimate partner violence
· Cultural awareness and sensitivity to the customs, traditions, spiritual beliefs, and family dynamics of Indigenous, immigrant, refugee, and newcomer populations, with demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross‑cultural environments
· Awareness of addictions, mental health concerns, and FASD, and their impact on individuals affected by intimate partner violence
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
· Commitment to professional ethics and standards of practice
· Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
· Ability to effectively support individuals experiencing complex or high‑risk situations
· Effective caseload management and organizational skills
· Valid driver’s license and consistent access to a reliable personal vehicle
Final candidates are required to provide satisfactory criminal record checks including a vulnerable sector search. This position is in-scope, CUPE Local 5316.
Compensation:
Pay range of $4,957.25 to $5,471.88 per month based on bachelor’s degree and related experience.
