The Role
We are recruiting a temporary full-time web content assistant to join our team from May to August 2026. This position will work with the communications team to support improvements to our websites (calgaryartsdevelopment.com and ). The successful candidate will conduct a comprehensive audit of our online content and help ensure our site is a clear,
accessible, up-to-date and engaging resource for artists and arts organizations, partners and the general public. This role directly supports our mandate to make information about our programs, funding opportunities and public art initiatives easy to find, understand and share.
Accountabilities
- Conduct a full audit of the organization’s websites, assessing navigation, structure, accessibility and overall user experience.
- Identify broken links, outdated and missing information, formatting inconsistencies and other usability or technical issues.
- Update and refine content related to grants, research publications, public art projects and organizational programs to ensure clarity, accuracy, plain language and consistency.
- Recommend structural improvements to make the sites more intuitive for users seeking information and opportunities.
- Optimize pages for SEO and AI-driven search compatibility by improving headings, metadata, alt text, internal linking, tagging and structured content.
- Ensure all updates align with the organization’s style guide.
- Collaborate with the communications team and staff members from other departments to verify the accuracy of content.
- Prepare a final report summarizing findings, completed updates, recommended next steps and guidelines for ongoing maintenance.
Who Are You?
This position is supported by the Canada Summer Jobs Program. As a requirement of that program, applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 30. Preference will be given to students returning to school in the fall and to recent graduates.
We’re seeking a detail-oriented individual who has experience with Word Press and optimizing web content for SEO and GEO. You’re self-directed and focused, while also working effectively within a team. You bring a strong understanding of plain language and accessible communications.
You’re not all things to all people, but you’re probably already a few of these things:
- You are highly organized, detail oriented and self-motivated in your work.
- You are comfortable identifying priorities, gathering information and ensuring those you work with have all the details they need to be successful in their work.
- You have strong time management skills.
- You have experience using Word Press, Word and Excel.
- You are committed to growing your awareness of equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility, and want to ensure that our systems reflect those values.
- You are a self-starter who is adaptable working both independently and with a team.
- You adapt quickly to using new technologies.
- You are comfortable working in a collaborative and open work setting.

Types of Assistance
General Transcription or Editing Services and Organizing of Support Materials
- Applicants who experience barriers within the writing process directly due to a physical or learning disability or due to living with mental illness.
- Maximum Contribution: $75
ASL Interpretation
- Calgary Arts Development can make arrangements for reputable, in-person ASL interpreters for interviews, in consultation with the interviewee, and at no cost to the interviewee.
Interview Parking
- Applicants who must drive to an interview at our request are eligible to have their parking costs paid by Calgary Arts Development.
- Maximum Contribution: $32 per interview, or the equivalent of the daily rate for parking lots that are close to the Calgary Arts Development office.
Childcare
- Applicants who require childcare services to attend the interview are eligible to be reimbursed for those childcare expenses.
