Our Port Hope location is seeking a Health Physicist to provide Health Physics and Radiation Protection (RP) support to the Historic Waste Program (HWP) Management Office. What will you be doing!

- Documenting, forecasting, analyzing, investigating, and interpreting moderately complex results and providing recommendations to project teams and/or more senior staff.
- Performing moderately complex radiological safety assessments.
- Assisting in documenting radiological work plans.
- Assisting in the delivery of RP Training for CNL staff members and sub-contractors.
- Leading accident investigations and workplace inspections.
- Advising staff on RP requirements in their respective work areas.
- Ensuring both Port Granby and Port Hope sites are compliant with the requirements of the RP Plan and CNL’s Corporate Radiation Protection program.
- Supporting audits, oversight and other regulatory obligations and ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards.
Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

- Education
- University Degree in Health Physics or an Honours Degree in Science or Engineering with post-graduate studies and/or experience in Health Physics or related discipline.

- Experience

- 2 years (24 months) of experience as an operational Health Physicist in a related field is preferred.
- Experience using Microsoft computer software and databases.

- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- A valid Ontario class “G” (or equivalent)



driver’s license.
- Knowledge of recommendations and guidelines of radiological protection standards.
- Understanding of radiation protection philosophies, procedures, equipment, and techniques, both in theory and practice.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to make decisions based on established requirements, procedures and practices.

- Security Clearance Eligibility Required

- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

- Must be able and willing to work in all weather conditions.
- Must have sufficient mobility to work in a construction setting with the potential for uneven footing on various surfaces (soil, mud, gravel, and pavement).
- Must be able to wear standard and specialized Personal Protective equipment (once trained to do so) including CSA-approved hard hat, safety glasses, footwear, Tyvek Suits, and full and half-faced respiratory protection.

CNL's Historic Waste Program Management Office is in Port Hope, Ontario's beautiful and historic community. Roughly 100 km east of Toronto, it is still close enough to the “Big City” without all the hassle of being in the “Big City.” As a leader in environmental remediation at nuclear and radiologically contaminated sites, CNL is implementing the Port Hope Area Initiative on behalf of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited.
