Downtown Maintenance & Cleanliness Team Member –Full-time Permanent
Rate: $17.15/hour

This role contributes to making Downtown Winnipeg a vibrant and welcoming district through the continuous upkeep of outdoor public and private spaces. As a part of the Enviro team, Downtown Maintenance & Cleanliness Team Members are primarily responsible for litter pick up, removal and the upkeep of bus shelters and helping create an environment that is clean year-round for our downtown community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Clean, sanitize, and remove debris from bus shelters and bus stop areas.
- Drive a compact utility vehicle across downtown to support litter collection and cleanup efforts.
- Bio-hazard clean up and removal.
- Remove posters from non-approved areas as requested.
- Assist with the transport, cleaning, repairs and installation of public realm infrastructure.
- Assist with event set-up and tear down.
- Provide information and directions to the public as requested.
- Record and report any maintenance safety concerns related to sidewalks, streets, public infrastructure, and private property.
- Record statistics on daily maintenance activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance or a related field is an asset.
- Working knowledge of safe work procedures and practices in groundskeeping and utility vehicle operation.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal communication, and customer service skills.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License required
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Required to work outdoors in all weather conditions year-round.
- Required to workdays, evenings, and weekends.
- Ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods and over uneven terrain.
- Physically capable of performing the duties and responsibilities of the position including shoveling, bending, reaching, crouching and lifting up to 50 lbs.
