Position Purpose and Summary
The student success advisor at TEDS@TWU is responsible for facilitating enrolment and persistence to completion for TEDS@TWU students. This includes personal interactions with current students, developing institutional strategies for student retention, as well as facilitating activities that contribute to the relational formation essential to seminary education. To do this, the successful candidate will assist the TEDS@TWU Program Manager to plan and sustain timely, efficient and effective engagement with current students to ensure effective coordination for advising and enrolment of incoming and returning students.
Key Areas of Accountability
Increase Retention and Persistence to Completion
- Manage assigned retention responsibilities and develop goals for moving students through their academic studies. Understand the key characteristics of TEDS@TWU degree programs, student goals and motivations, seminary and university institutional structures. Develop and maintain contacts with students, faculty and others who impact student success.
- Provide academic coaching to current students in person, by phone, email, or letter, to support successful completion of their studies. This may include assistance with course selection, coordination with TWU registrar’s office and student services, connecting with faculty advisors, engaging with staff from the partner seminaries and other actions to enhance the TEDS@TWU student educational experience.
Coordinate Student Success Activities to Further Institutional Goals
- Work with the Program Manager to identify and implement current and effective enrolment strategies and actions. Assist in the co-ordination of automated communication flow as it relates to advising students.
- Work with TWU student ministries office to ensure TEDS@TWU students have access to all student ministerial services offered by the university.

Standards & Requirements
Education: BA required. Master’s degree preferred (ideally in an area of theological studies)
Experience: Two years of admissions office experience in a post-secondary institution or equivalent sales experience. Graduate admissions experience preferred.
