This position is made available by Canadian Summer Jobs Grant. As per the grant agreement, applicants must:

- A Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or a refugee.

- Intend to return to a post-secondary school.

Position Title: Reconciliation Support Coordinator

Primary Supervisor: Executive Director

Timeframe: 8 weeks: 35 hours per week

Pay: $18.00/hour

Degree of Supervision: General Supervision

The supervisors provide continuing or individual assignments by indicating generally what is to be done, limitations, quality and quantity expected, deadlines and priorities. Additional, specific instructions are given for current, difficult, or unusual assignments. The employee uses the initiative in carrying out recurring assignments. The supervisor assures that the work is technically accurate and in compliance with instructions or established procedures.

Volunteer Lethbridge (VL) strengthens and sustains a healthy, vibrant community through support and advancement of volunteer excellence. We build connections and empower individuals and organizations to enhance volunteerism and grow volunteer capacity. We strive to have volunteer management recognized as a critical organizational program; that non-profit organizations offer relevant, accessible, high-quality, well-managed volunteer opportunities.

VL also supports the non-profit sector with access to quality training opportunities, expert advice, sector information, and sector advocacy.

Duties and responsibilities:

● General:

○ Be committed to your scheduled shift ready and able to perform all necessary tasks.

○ Welcome team members, visitors and volunteers with a friendly and positive attitude.

○ Follow office workplace policies and procedures.

○ Other duties as assigned or required.





● The Reconciliation Researcher is responsible for contributing to the collection of research on reconciliation and on case studies pertaining to business use of land acknowledgements and relationships to Indigenous peoples. The position is integral to the modernization and justice, equity, diversity and inclusion of Volunteer Lethbridge, as we operate on Blackfoot Confederacy territory. A primary goal for this position is the creation of a robust land acknowledgement statement that reflects the territory and people we stand on, includes calls to action and can implement some form of active participation on those involved in the acknowledgement.

Qualifications

● Education - Attending a post-secondary institution, returning to school September 2026.

● Proficiency with computer systems and experience using online platforms such as social media, database management, Microsoft Office, and Google Drive.

● Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

● Ability to multitask and respond effectively to challenges.

● Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

● Positive attitude and a sincere dedication to assisting others.

● Preferred: Volunteer experience and experience interacting with a diverse population.

● Required: Police Information Check..

● Initiative to seek additional work independently.

● Ability to embody the organization’s values through work, interactions, and attitude.

● Passionate about volunteerism and the nonprofit sector.





● Strong project management skills.

● Adaptability to new situations and circumstances.

Working Conditions

The office is located at 324 – 5 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta in the U of L Dr. Foster James Penny Building. Standard organizational hours are weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m, excluding statutory holidays and special observances. Some flexibility is required for participating in evening and weekend events.
