Fix Auto Middleton, Nova Scotia is looking for a high-performing Auto Body Painter to lead our refinish department. As the final stage in our repair process, you are responsible for ensuring every vehicle leaves our shop with a flawless, showroom-quality finish. You will work with premium waterborne paint systems, cross draft paint booth and a team dedicated to "Right the First Time" results.

Key Responsibilities
n
- Color Matching & Tinting: Utilize computerized color-matching systems and spray-out cards to ensure a perfect match, including complex multi-stage (tri-coat) and matte finishes.
- High-Quality Application: Apply primers, sealers, basecoats, and clearcoats efficiently while maintaining a dirt-free environment.
- Surface Finalization: Inspect all incoming bodywork for "paint-readiness"; perform final block-sanding, masking, and chemical cleaning to ensure superior adhesion.
- Booth Management: Operate and maintain spray booths, ensuring proper bake cycles and regular filter/maintenance schedules.
- Material Efficiency: Monitor paint inventory and mix only the necessary amounts of product to minimize waste and manage the shop’s "liquid costs."
- Safety & Compliance: Strictly adhere to all PPE requirements (supplied air respirators) and environmental regulations for hazardous waste disposal (VOC compliance).
- Quality Control: Perform post-paint nibbing and polishing (denibbing) to remove any minor imperfections before the vehicle moves to reassembly.
nQualifications & Skillsn
- Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of professional automotive painting experience in a high-production collision center.
- Certification: Red Seal Refinish Technician certification (or equivalent) is highly preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: \* Expertise with Waterborne Paint Systems (e.g., PPG Envirobase, Glasurit, or Spies Hecker).
- I-CAR Platinum Refinish Technician status is a significant advantage.
- Proficiency with HVLP spray guns and specialized equipment (e.g., SATA or Iwata).
- Efficiency: Ability to manage a high-volume "stall flow," keeping multiple jobs moving through the booth daily.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work in a respirator for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- License: Valid Driver’s License.
