FINANCIAL COORDINATOR
n(Permanent Full-Time)n
Muskoka Women’s Shelters and Services is a not-for-profit charitable organization which oversees two violence-against-women shelters and 10 transitional apartments in the District of Muskoka. We are currently accepting applications for the position of Financial Coordinator.
n
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Financial Coordinator is a key member of the organization providing all bookkeeping and administrative functions. This position is based at our Bracebridge location, although duties will sometimes arise at our other site in Huntsville.
n
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:
n
Qualifications
n· 2-Year diploma in Business/Business Accountingn
· Minimum 3 years relevant experience in a non-profit agency
n
· Experience in financial and statistical reporting and annual audit process for the charitable sector
n
· Knowledge of provincial and federal legislation applicable to the charitable not-for-profit sector
n
· Experience with the Employment Standards Act, and other employment-related legislation
n
· Demonstrated experience with accounting programs i.e Quick Books
n
· Experience working in a unionized environment
n
· Experience with capital asset management and ministry-funded minor/major capital reporting.
n
· Ability to track, analyze data, and manage accounting information with accuracy and attention to detail
n
· Sound judgment, problem solving and organizational skills
n
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
n
· Understanding of violence against women work
n
Responsibilities:
n· Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)n
· Ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures
n
· Payroll preparation, administration and CRA reporting for 25+ employees
n
· Maintain employee files and ensure compliance with employment legislation
n
· Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions
n
· Ensure that accurate and timely financial/statistical reports are prepared in accordance with Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, and other funders
n
· Participate in collective bargaining and adhere to the CBA
n
· Maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash
n
· Submit all financial information, reports, and records as requested or required by law to appropriate government officials and funders
n
· Develop, monitor and report monthly on the organization’s annual budget
n
· Liaise with auditor on behalf of agency, and prepare documents for annual external audit
n
· Ensure compliance with CRA Guidelines for registered charities
n
· Coordinate the administration of benefit plans
n
· Prepare budget sections and financial narratives for grant applications and funder reports
n
· Provide administrative support services
n
· Provide backup to on-call manager in emergency situations
n
· Practical in-house assistance on an as needed basis
n
· Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
n
Regular hours of Work: Monday to Friday - 36 hours per week.
n
The successful applicant will begin on a mutually agreed upon date in June, 2026.
n
Salary range: $60,000 - $63,000 commensurate with years of experience and education
n
