What You’ll Do

nAs a Medical Laboratory Assistant with PHSA,



you’ll be part of a team that supports vital diagnostic services across British Columbia. In this important role, you will:n

- Provide a calm, compassionate presence while collecting blood and non-blood specimens from patients.
- Prepare and label specimens with accuracy, following safety and quality protocols to ensure reliable results.
- Package and transport specimens in accordance with Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and WHMIS guidelines.
- Forward specimens to referral labs or internal departments, supporting effective and timely testing.
- Maintain smooth day-to-day lab operations and contribute to a safe, organized work environment.
- Register patients, generate blood collection lists, and manage data using the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and related digital tools.
- Play a key role in delivering high-quality laboratory services that help patients receive the care they need—when they need it most.

What you bring

Qualifications

n

- Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) program is required
- Proven venipuncture experience, ideally in a fast-paced health care setting is a bonus.
- Confidence working with digital lab systems and a typing speed of at least 25 words per minute.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the historic and ongoing impacts of settler colonialism and systemic racism on Indigenous Peoples within social and health contexts. This includes understanding how these factors contribute to current health dispari
