Job Description
nWe’re looking for a Museum Assistant to join our team for a summer filled with history, learning, and community engagement. This role offers hands-on experience in heritage preservation and public programming in a supportive, dynamic environment.n
Key Responsibilities
nWorking under the supervision of the Museum Manager, the Museum Assistant will:n
- Lead engaging guided tours and interact with visitors.
- Assist with the care and preservation of artifacts and archival materials.
- Create engaging content for social media and respond to comments/messages.
- Support the planning and execution of special events and community programs.
- Participate in professional development and training sessions.
- Contribute to administrative and basic maintenance tasks as required.

Employment Details

- Pay: $20.00–$21.00 per hour.
- Duration: May, 2026 – August 2026.
- Hours: Approximately 35 hours per week.
- Job Type: Full time, Seasonal.
- Contract Length: 16 weeks.
- Location: In-person at the Yale Historic Site.
- Schedule: Must be available to work weekends.
nAccommodation Option:
A room may be available at the staff house located on the museum property. If selected, Forager Foundation will cover 50% of the cost, and the student will pay $250/month.n
Qualifications

Eligible applicants must:
n
- Be enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary institution in a relevant field such as Art, History, Art History, Museum Studies, Cultural Studies, Tourism, Anthropology, or Education. Students from other disciplines with a strong interest in heritage work are welcome to apply.
- Be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status (students on temporary visas are not eligible).
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada with a valid SIN.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and a commitment to public engagement.
- Possess basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office and social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok).
- Have a genuine interest in Canadian history, museums, and cultural programming.
