Our projects are primarily on commercial & industrial buildings in Edmonton, Calgary, and smaller centers across Alberta. We have deep expertise in solar, EV charging, battery storage, and LED lighting upgrades. There is some travel (25%) required with this position.
We are hiring a motivated Solar Service Technician & Maintenance Lead. This is a full time position based out of our Edmonton office and will report to our Field Supervisor.
Role: Inspect & troubleshoot solar electrical systems and perform QA/QC inspections on completed projects.

Key Accountabilities:
- Recurring Maintenance. Perform annual Operations & Maintenance inspections onsite. Document conditions, make repairs, & issue reports to customers. Estimate major repairs, perform RMA’s, ensure work orders & invoices are completed
- Troubleshooting / Service Work. Troubleshoot & repair solar & electrical systems.
- Perform QA/QC inspections and generate punch lists
- Construction. In between QA/QC, service projects, and scheduled maintenance inspections, assist construction crews with installation work
- Commission Solar Projects. Perform final commissioning of solar arrays, EV charging, battery storage, communications equipment, protective relays, and other electrical systems
- Perform thermal imaging of electrical systems & major equipment (transformers, MDP’s, house panels, etc.) as well as thermal imagery of all solar installations to ensure no abnormalities or issues. Document findings and issue reports to customers.
- Ensure work is completed safely. Ensure you and direct reports are adhering to safety policy.
Secondary Accountabilities:
- Ensure work is completed with utmost quality. Ensure direct reports are adhering to quality control process. Ensure the finished product is professional and safe.
- Assist in training Customers on software portals and answering their questions
- Coordinate equipment rentals, travel, & accommodations as required
- Maintain Equipment If a tool, lift, vehicle or other equipment is broken, unsafe, or needs attention, bring it to your supervisor attention and plan to get it repaired.
- Market and sell services as a maintenance technician for other commercial solar and/or utility solar projects
- Order material for various maintenance projects
Qualifications & Experience
- Journeyman or Red Seal Electrician
- 2+ years solar troubleshooting and maintenance experience with all sorts of electrical testing equipment including meggers, multimeters, solar meters, etc.
- 2+ years solar commissioning experience
- 4+ years commercial electrical experience
- 4+ years as a Journeyman/Journeywoman
- Class 5 driver’s license with clean record
- Advanced RPAS Drone Training
- Highly capable with all types of software including Bluebeam Revu, SiteDocs, OneDrive/SharePoint, and Microsoft Word & Excel
- Thorough understanding of ethernet & wireless networks

- Current valid safety tickets: CSTS, First Aid, AWP, Fall Arrest
- Forklift, skid steer, or telehandler operator training & experience is an asset
