Library Technician – Collections and Social Media Coordinator (Union)

Renfrew Public Library

nReporting to the Chief Librarian and the Library CEO, the Library Technician is responsible for Collections & Social Media coordination and engages the community by ensuring that collections are relevant, accessible and respond to the community’s needs. This position is also responsible for creating and scheduling social media posts for the library’s platforms, ensuring an effective online presence, and provides technological services to patrons. On a smaller scale, provides reference, reader’s advisory, and circulation services to the public.n

Qualifications

- A library technician diploma is preferred (combination of education and experience will be considered)
- Minimum of two (02) years related experience in public libraries, cataloguing collections using an ILS or social media creation preferred.
- Ability to work 70 hours bi-weekly, including assigned evenings and/or weekends.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.




- Proven ability to deal effectively and positively with the public.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated competency with current information technology, with the ability to instruct users on library technology use.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships at all levels within an organization.
- Capable of successfully juggling multiple priorities while meeting deadlines and organizing activities.
