Program Information:
nBGC Charlottetown’s youth program aims to serve the needs of young people in the community age 12-18 through a variety of programs aimed at developing technological literacy, life skills, employability and academic programming. These programs will provide a sense of community and a protected space for youth that is currently under served in the Charlottetown community.n
Job Overview:
nYouth Program Leaders act as support to the youth engagement coordinator in the facilitation of our daily youth engagement programming. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe and fun environment for individuals aged 12-18 through implementing daily activities and communicating with participants & co-workers.
The candidate will work to enhance the participant’s experience by providing new and engaging experience as part of daily programming.n
Responsibilities
n
- Be on-site during scheduled program hours
- Support the Youth Engagement Coordinator in the planning and facilitation of program activities in the areas of Arts, Sports, Science and Technology, Cooking, Outdoor Education, Mental Health and Well-being, and Social Emotional Learning
- Engage and integrate all participants in daily programs
- Assist with daily operations and facility maintenance
- Effectively communicate with other staff, supervisors & Families
- Monitor participants throughout the day to maintain safety
- Keep detailed logs of daily interactions with members, incidents & accidents
- Empower the participants to successfully learn and develop appropriate life skills for their abilities
- Provide administrative support as needed
- Act as a point of contact for the youth engagement coordinator when they are not on site.

Qualifications:

- Emergency First Aid & CPR
- Clear criminal record check and Vulnerable Sector Search
- Previous experience working with youth/young people
- Formal education in a relevant field is an asset

Pay: $18.50 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 25 per week
