Fort Qu'Appelle Elementary School offers grade PK-7 programming to a projected enrollment of approximately 353 students. Fort Qu'Appelle is located 73 km northeast of Regina. Position Details Two positions available each with a 1.0 FTE Continuing Contract. Term: Commencing the school year. Current Assignment: Specialized Learning Classroom Teacher. The Specialized Learning Classroom Teacher will provide targeted, student-centered support in a specialized classroom designed to meet the needs of students with complex behavioural, emotional, and learning needs. The teacher will deliver flexible, inclusive programming grounded in trauma-informed practice and collaborative problem solving.



This role includes push-in, pull-out, and co-teaching models, with a focus on fostering student regulation, academic growth, and reintegration into regular classroom environments. The Specialized Learning Classroom Teacher collaborates closely with the school teams, families, and external supports to create a safe, responsive learning environment where students can thrive. Primary Responsibilities Work primarily within a classroom environment to support the Interventions Together (RtI) framework focused on developing, implementing and monitoring interventions and strategies that meet the social, emotional, behavioural and learning needs of students. Build the capacity of teachers, support staff, and administrators through innovative career development, in-class modeling, coaching, and mentoring. Collaborate through co‑teaching, team meetings, and professional learning events to support consistent implementation of strategies. Deliver individualized and small group instruction aligned with student needs, using trauma-informed, relationship-based approaches. Support students through push-in, pull-out, and re-integration models, while facilitating routines like check-ins, goal setting, and self-reflection. Implement frameworks such as Zones of Regulation, Collaborative and Proactive Solutions, Circle of Courage, PBIS, and SEL programming. Integrate cultural and land-based learning experiences to support holistic development. Foster a safe, structured environment through co-regulation, de-escalation, sensory support, and embedded regulation practices.



Model coping and regulation strategies for students and staff in real-time settings. Contribute to data collection, analysis, and reporting to monitor student progress and inform program decisions. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Expertise in planning, implementing, and monitoring individualized student interventions. Skilled in working collaboratively within interdependent teams and integrating feedback to improve outcomes. Ability to inspire and support the use of innovative, inclusive practices tailored to diverse student needs. Ability to manage challenging behaviors while maintaining a positive, respectful learning environment. Knowledge of the Response to Intervention framework and Positive Behaviour Intervention Supports. Understanding of trauma-informed practices, inclusive education principles, and self-regulation strategies. Experience conducting functional behavior assessments and developing IIPs and behavior intervention plans. Skilled in co‑teaching, mentoring colleagues, and modeling effective engagement and regulation techniques. Knowledgeable in restorative practices, culturally responsive pedagogy, and land-based learning. Committed to upholding confidentiality and protecting the dignity and privacy of students and families.
