The Senior Recreation Coordinator will serve as a resource, connecting the community recreational services and independently lead along with their staff team & volunteers, the development and implementation of Programs by engaging the community in a variety of diverse and inclusive opportunities intended to provide an environment to be active, be creative and meet other members of the community.

The Senior Recreation Coordinator will collaborate with other Parks and Recreation, and City Staff, volunteers and local community organizations & neighbourhood associations, to provide opportunities to effectively and efficiently serve the community through traditional, non-traditional, and innovative approaches to programming.

This essential member of the Community Recreation & Events team will liaise with user groups, scheduling rentals and facilitate the recreation programming opportunities within the City of Brantford.

Duties and Responsibilities: Lead and Assist staff team with the coordination of recreational programming,



activities and special events Work collaboratively with centralized booking staff team to provide excellence in customer service Demonstrated ability to complete funding proposals/grant applications Demonstrated ability to design effective evaluation tools & data collection processes Knowledge of the Municipal Alcohol Policy and ability to transfer that knowledge through to rental groups Knowledge of, experience in and commitment to eliminating the barriers to accessing recreation Team building, problem-solving, and conflict management skills Well-developed verbal and written communication skills Develop relationships with potential partner organizations to support delivery of programming, Provide a comfortable, welcoming and positive environment for participants Provide exemplary customer service to all participant groups (residents, partners) as required Participate in community engagement/development activities and increase awareness within the neighbourhood of programs and services through utilizing community resources and by participating in neighbourhood development activities Produce reports/correspondence as required Complete all assigned administrative tasks including bank deposits Develop and maintain networks and positive relationships in business, and agency fields Complete all other duties as assigned.





Qualifications Completion of a two-year college diploma in Recreation & Leisure Studies or equivalent A minimum of 1 year previous experience in recreation program planning and supervising staff is a requirement of the position Working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office -Word, Excel, Power Point, and recreation software, such as Active

Net is required Excellent customer service, communication, time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills along with a passion for working closely with the community & volunteers are essential as well as having the ability to work independently Additional Job Details Flexible work hours including frequent evening, weekend and holiday work periods Medium physical demand Valid G Driver s License required Smart Serve Certification Level C Standard First Aid and CPR Certification Current Police Clearance Certificate required As a condition of employment, proof of current and valid certificate(s) and/or educational qualifications will be required.
