nMuseum at Erchless Estate was once home to Oakville’s founding family and is now the setting for Oakville's community museum. We are located on the shores of Lake Ontario at Oakville Harbour, set on 4 acres of historic gardens. Our campus includes three heritage buildings including the Erchless Estate, the historic Coach House and Oakville’s First Post Office.n

nThe Heritage Summer Camp Leader will work as part of a team delivering hands-on programming to children enrolled in Oakville Museum summer camps. You are the front-line leader in championing the Hands-on-History Summer Program. Reporting to the Museum Programmer/Public Programs, the candidate will assist with coordinating the operations and delivery of the Hands-on History Summer Programs. The candidate will oversee the day-to-day coordination of camp activities, and lead groups of children ages 4 to 12 in program activities.n

- *Job Responsibilities**
- Assist in the planning and delivery of creative theme oriented, heritage based hands-on Museum Summer Camp programs
- Provide direct care, safety,



and supervision of children, as well as the enjoyment of all participants
- Lead before and after camp activities
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for camp participants
- Day-to-day co-ordination of camp activities, including preparation, set-up, and clean- up of daily activities
- Adhere to department prescribed policies and procedures
- Support and promote the HIGH FIVE "Principles of Healthy Child Development" (PHCD)
- *Qualifications**
- Enrolled in a post-secondary program in History, Museum Studies, Education and/or Early Childhood education or a related discipline
- Experience supervising groups of children in a camp and/or educational setting
- Ability to work both independently and to be proactive in a team environment
- Responsible, hard-working, enthusiastic and dynamic
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational, planning and leadership skills
- Experience and knowledge of recreation, education, arts and/or crafts would be an asset
- Current Standard First Aid certification and CPR C and AED is required
- Previous leadership experience would be beneficial
- HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) Certification is a requirement
- All applicants must provide confirmation of full-time student status in the current academic year and/or acceptance into full-time studies the following September.
