IT Support Technician (Field & Network Support) – Client-Facing Role

Location: Stony Plain / Spruce Grove, Alberta
Job Types: Part-time, Full-time, Freelance
Expected Hours: 20–40 per week

Position Overview

We are looking for a reliable, personable IT technician to provide both in office and remote support to residential and small business clients.

This is a client-facing role, meaning communication, professionalism, and trust-building are just as important as technical ability.

We are open to both:

- Employee (part-time or full-time)
- Independent contractor / white-label arrangements

Compensation

- Employee: $22–$28/hour (based on experience)
- Contractor: $35–$50/hour (depending on experience and structure)

Mileage is compensated for travel between client sites.

Hours will start based on current workload and are expected to grow over time.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide on-site and remote support for Windows 10/11 systems
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues (break/fix)
- Support Microsoft 365 environments (user setup, licensing, email, OneDrive,



SharePoint)
- Manage and support endpoint protection (Sophos)
- Configure and troubleshoot networks (Mikrotik, Sophos firewalls, wireless access points)
- Assist with cloud backup solutions and data protection
- Support NAS systems (Synology)
- Assist with small business infrastructure (Windows Server 2019+, basic virtualization)
- Support VoIP systems (Microsoft Teams Phones)
- Provide clear, non-technical explanations to clients
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and customer interactions

Requirements

- 2–3+ years of hands-on IT support experience
- Strong knowledge of Windows environments (desktop and basic server)
- Experience with Microsoft 365 administration
- Basic networking knowledge (firewalls, routing, wireless)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle (required)
- Working knowledge of macOS / Apple devices and environments (including basic troubleshooting and network integration) is considered an asset

Bonus Experience (Nice to Have)

- Experience with Mikrotik or Sophos products
- Synology NAS systems
- VoIP / Microsoft Teams Phone systems
- MSP or client-service experience
- Experience with hardware-level repair and microsoldering (considered a strong asset)
