Job Overview:

We’re a tiny waterfront takeout café building our summer team!

We're looking for baristas/café workers who are proficient in latte art and comfortable working in a busy (like, really busy!) environment. Weekend availability is a must, along with being kind, a good teammate, and a clear communicator. Kitchen experience is an asset!

Positions Available:

Full and part-time positions available through the end of August, with the option to continue through October.

Key Responsibilities:

- Greet customers in a friendly and welcoming manner, taking orders accurately and efficiently.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operation of the café, supporting each other during busy periods and communicating effectively.
- Prepare ingredients and assemble a variety of menu items such as sandwiches, pastries, bagels and breakfast bowls according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Prepare and serve a range of hot and cold beverages including brewed coffee, espresso-based drinks, tea, and other specialty drinks with attention to detail and presentation.
- Operate and maintain coffee brewing equipment, espresso machines, and other kitchen appliances, ensuring cleanliness and functionality.
- Assist with inventory management, restocking supplies, and rotating perishable items to maintain freshness.
- Use a POS system to take and confirm orders, process cash and card transactions accurately, and provide customers with receipts.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout the workspace, including cleaning equipment, floors, and washing dishes.
- Follow food safety and hygiene protocols at all times,



including proper handling and storage of food items, and adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer inquiries, concerns, and special requests promptly and professionally.
- Complete opening and closing tasks, including setting up and breaking down the café, cleaning tasks, end-of-day cash duties, and securing the premises.

Qualifications:

- 1+ year barista experience
- Proficient in latte art
- Valid food safety certificate
- Kitchen/food service experience is an asset
- Knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and espresso-based beverages
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact positively with customers and team members
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude

Requirements:

- Ability to stand for extended periods and move around the café comfortably.
- Ability to lift and carry boxes and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to work with others in close quarters.
- Comfort handling food items, including meat and dairy.
