Medical Director, Saskatoon Urgent Care Centre (UCC) Development

The Medical Director of UCC Development Saskatoon will report to the Lead of UCC Operations in the Saskatoon Area.

The Medical Director of UCC Development Saskatoon will function collaboratively with UCC Saskatoon project team members to:

- Participate in advisory committees that are related to UCC Saskatoon
- Represent and communicate project and operational issues/goals to operational and clinical leaders, clinicians, and the Ministry
- Lead, promote and effectively articulate to frontline physicians and clinicians the vision of the UCC Saskatoon programs/services and how the UCC will influence and improve safe, quality client care
- Develop coalitions, work effectively with internal SHA stakeholders, and draw on expertise in the community to help establish the multi-disciplinary clinical care model of the UCC Saskatoon, including defining the role of physicians (Community Physicians, Network Leads, 811 HealthLine, etc.)
- Work collaboratively to recommend diagnostic and clinical procedures available at the UCC Saskatoon and develop protocols related to the same
- Identify training all members of the multi-disciplinary care team will undertake
- Build, through engagement, collaboration and support, a network of committed and motivated physicians and clinicians to work in the UCC Saskatoon
- Create and sustain a workplace workplace that fosters the application of evidence-informed practice, compliance with regulations and accreditation standards, utilization of clinical research, and management of risk and adverse events in collaboration with corporate resources
- Upon opening of the UCC Saskatoon, assist with implementation of clinical services, physician scheduling, and service/program evaluation
- Review any complaints, as requested, concerning the provision of clinical care by the UCC services physician team
- Review patient care reports and audits by following up on reviews, as required or requested by the SHA
- Upon request of the SHA,



participate in quality improvement and performance measurement initiatives and recommend measurement tools to the Director and Managers responsible for UCC Saskatoon
- Develop and demonstrate leadership capabilities and commitment to the culture of client-first continuous learning
- Lead and engage with UCC Leadership, as well as internal stakeholders and community organizations, to develop an environment of cultural competence focused on Truth and Reconciliation
- Other duties as mutually agreed to between the Medical Director and the Authority

Job Qualifications

- Licensed medical practitioner in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan
- Canadian Certified Physician Executive Credential would be an asset
- Advanced education in Health Care Administration, Public Administration and/or Leadership Studies would be an asset
- Participation in the Canadian Medical Association’s Physician Leadership Institute would be an asset
- Additional training and/or education in leadership/management would be an asset
- Experience at an operational level as a medical leader who has worked in partnership with administrative leaders to develop and lead innovative planning and programs in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
- Knowledge of and experience in guiding health quality improvement processes and initiatives
