We provide building envelope and firestopping trade service and work in multi-family residential and commercial construction projects. We like to provide quality work and do so in a safe manner. Our office is in Central Burnaby. We've got 12 team members in the office and 50+ in the field.

We are looking to hire a quantity estimator to join our team and support the estimating operations and processes.

We are hiring a Quantity Estimator to join our team and support our estimating work.

Key Responsibilities

- Review architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings and specifications to determine material and labour needs
- Complete detailed quantity takeoffs based on the scope of work, drawings, specifications, and bidding instructions
- Prepare cost estimates using company templates and guides
- Prepare and maintain estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities for tenders and projects
- Request and review supplier and subcontractor quotes to confirm accurate pricing
- Build and maintain unit rate databases and historical cost records
- Work with project managers, engineers, and procurement staff to match quantities and budgets to project goals
- Identify cost savings, scope gaps, and risks during estimating
- Help prepare bids, including pricing summaries, scope sheets, and proposal documents




- Update estimates when design or scope changes
- Compare actual project costs to estimates to improve future accuracy
- Support value engineering and cost analysis of alternative materials or methods, with help from the project management team
- Make sure estimates follow company policies, industry standards, and safety requirements
- Promote and uphold our safe and respectful work culture

Qualifications

- Diploma or degree in Building Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in quantity estimating
- Solid problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Able to work independently and as part of a team

Things to Know

- We use PlanSwift for on-screen takeoffs and Microsoft Excel for estimating
- Mostly office-based, with site visits as needed to verify site conditions
- Hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday

Pay: $68,640.00-$75,000.00 per year
