General Description:

- Support and care for children and youth with love and respect
- Prepare the Sunday program using resources and programs sourced or curated by our kidZone Coordinator and/or ministry team.
- Set up and maintain organization of kidZone space
- Prepare lesson/activities ahead of Sunday, be aware of supplies and resources needed, and work with Coordinator around what supplies are available or need purchasing
- Arrive by 9:45 AM on Sunday to set up kidZone spaces and finish preparations
- By 10:15 AM be ready upstairs to welcome children, youth, and families and coordinate with the team for Sunday check-in / attendance
- Be present in worship and then lead children to your program space
- Wait with children after program time is finished until they are picked up or can leave independently if permitted.




- Clean up space and put away supplies after worship and kidZone is finished.
- Attend 30 minute monthly (post-worship) team check in, and quarterly seasonal team meetings
- Be aware of the Fire/Safety Plan and Emergency Preparedness Plan for each space
- Assist with occasional family events (Trunk or Treat, Outdoor Nativity, Easter Egg Hunt, June Picnic, etc)
- Respond to messages / emails on a timely basis
- Report to Coordinator or the Minister with any concerns or needs.

Skills and Experience Requirements:

- Leaders of the children in our kidZone will create a warm, welcoming, learning environment where children can learn the stories of our faith and make connections with their own life.
- Leaders of our children will have a familiarity with, and respect for the Christian story and an understanding of United Church and our solid value of inclusion and welcome for all people.
- Leaders will have skills in preparing, leading and adapting a program (curriculum), engaging the children and communicating spirituality and faith with respect to their developmental stages.
- Compassion, and understanding/experience related to Neuro Diversity. Formal training in this area is not required but an asset.
- Flexibility and creativity
- Satisfactory vulnerable sector check
- First Aid Training is an asset but not required

Rotating Leadership Model
Three candidates will be selected to share leadership of our two KidZone classes: ages 3–Grade 2 and Grades 4–6. All three leaders will share responsibility for both age groups, with assignments rotating so that each leader has the opportunity to work with either class. Each person will be scheduled to lead three weeks/Sundays per month, with an occasional fourth required to provide coverage when needed or during months with five Sundays.

Pay: $20.00 per hour
