About Progressive Industrial Fluids
Progressive Industrial Fluids is a locally owned, family-operated Canadian manufacturing company based in Southwestern Ontario. We design, manufacture, and distribute industrial fluids and specialty chemical products that support critical industries across Canada.
Built from the ground up, Progressive has grown through a strong focus on process, quality, and doing things the right way. We take pride in producing true Canadian-made products, supporting local jobs, and maintaining hands-on ownership involvement in the business.
Over the past several years, we’ve intentionally invested in building a process-driven organization. From documented procedures and quality controls to ERP integration through Odoo, our systems are designed to support scale, consistency, and continuous improvement. These foundations give us significant room to grow — and we are now poised for the next phase of expansion.
We believe great companies are built by great people. As we grow, we are focused on surrounding ourselves with high-calibre team members who care about their work, take ownership, and want to help build something lasting. We value accountability, responsiveness, respect, and collaboration, and we believe strong leadership and clear processes allow people to do their best work.
Joining Progressive Industrial Fluids means becoming part of a team that is building for the long term — where contributions matter, improvements are encouraged, and success is shared.
The Role
The Inside Sales Coordinator – Sales Development Program is designed for someone who wants to build a career in industrial sales but understands that becoming an effective salesperson starts with understanding the business behind the sale.
For approximately the first three to four months, you will work from our London facility and take responsibility for the day-to-day Inside Sales Coordinator function. You will enter and manage customer orders, prepare quotations, communicate with customers, support our outside sales team, coordinate with logistics and production, maintain information in Odoo, and help keep customer requirements moving through the business.
At the same time, you will be learning how Progressive operates from the inside out.
You will develop practical knowledge of our products, customers, pricing, manufacturing processes, logistics, order flow, technical resources and internal systems. You will see what happens after a salesperson makes a commitment to a customer and learn what information our production, logistics, purchasing and technical teams need in order to execute successfully.
We believe this operational understanding creates better salespeople.
Rather than putting someone on the road and expecting them to learn the business from a distance, this position gives you the opportunity to understand how Progressive actually works before beginning to represent the company in the field.
Throughout the development period, your responsibilities will gradually expand beyond the order desk. You will begin participating in quote follow-up, customer conversations, account reviews, opportunity identification, product discussions and sales activity. You will work with members of the sales team, learn how we approach existing and prospective customers, and begin developing the commercial and technical knowledge required to manage a sales territory.
This position is intentionally designed as a pathway into an outside sales role. Successful completion of the development period will depend on your ability to learn the Inside Sales Coordinator position, demonstrate strong judgement and customer communication, build appropriate product and business knowledge, and show that you are ready to represent Progressive independently with customers.
During approximately the final 30 days of the Inside Sales Coordinator assignment, you will also be responsible for helping train the individual who will take over the coordinator position. A successful transition means not only being ready to move forward yourself, but leaving the position organized, documented and in capable hands.
We are looking for someone who wants more than a desk job. We want someone who sees the Inside Sales Coordinator position as an opportunity to learn the business properly, build a strong foundation and prepare themselves for a long-term career in industrial sales.
Sales Development & Transition
The three- to four-month development period will generally progress through several stages.
Learn the Business
During the early portion of the program, your priority will be learning how Progressive operates.
You will become familiar with our product lines, customers, industries, order processes, pricing structures, logistics requirements, production capabilities, technical resources and Odoo workflows.
You will learn how information moves from the customer through sales and into production, purchasing, logistics and accounting, and how decisions made during the sales process affect the rest of the organization.
Own the Inside Sales Coordinator Role
As your knowledge develops, you will take increasing ownership of the Inside Sales Coordinator position.
You will be expected to manage customer inquiries, quotations, order entry, follow-up and internal coordination with increasing independence while maintaining a high level of accuracy, responsiveness and professionalism.
You will become an important connection point between our customers, outside sales representatives and internal operating teams.
Begin Developing as an Outside Sales Representative
Throughout the program, you will gradually become involved in more commercial activity.
This may include reviewing customer purchasing history, following up on quotations, identifying product opportunities, participating in customer discussions, learning prospecting techniques, supporting sales opportunities and accompanying members of the sales team where appropriate.
The objective is to begin developing the confidence, judgement, product knowledge and commercial awareness required to manage customer relationships independently.
Train Your Replacement & Transition to the Sales Team
During approximately the final 30 days of the development period, you will help onboard and train the next Inside Sales Coordinator.
You will teach the processes you have learned, explain key workflows, support their development and help ensure that important customer and internal responsibilities are transferred properly.
Your ability to leave behind a well-organized and capable replacement will be an important part of successfully completing the program and transitioning into outside sales.
