POSITION SUMMARY:

The Saw Machine Operator will be responsible for the setup, safe operation, and routine maintenance of a Hyd-Mech semi and automatic horizontal bandsaw used to cut aluminum, stainless steel and related materials to specified dimensions. This role requires a strong attention to detail, precision, and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to ensure all components meet quality standards and specifications.

Job Responsibilities:

Machine Setup and Operation:

- Set up and safely operate a Hyd-Mech manual, semi and automatic bandsaws.
- Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and cutting instructions
- Accurately measure and verify parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, measuring tape, etc.)
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on saw equipment
- Forklift experience would be helpful, but not a requirement.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
- Work independently with minimal supervision.

Quality Assurance:

- Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gages) to verify cut part dimensions

Health and Safety Compliance:

- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all operational activities




- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by performing basic housekeeping duties

Other

- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Shop Help packing parts as needed, skidding parts, preparing shipments as needed within other departments of the shop.

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating industrial machinery (bandsaw experience preferred)
- Previous experience cutting steel or metal materials is an asset
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, charts, and tables
- Ability lift, push, pull, or carry 30 – 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, squat and climb throughout the shift
- Familiarity with material handling equipment such as forklifts would be helpful but not a requirement.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and safety
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively

Job Type: Full time

Pay: $21.00-$23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
