Apply advanced PCB rework and reverse-engineering skills to competitive notebook, desktop motherboard, and GPU platform analysis. Work hands-on with complex electronics.
As a PCB Design Engineer II, you will analyze competitor CPU, APU, and GPU boards without schematics or board-view files. Your work combines board-level troubleshooting, component identification, power distribution analysis, and PCB construction investigation. You will support reports and recommendations covering architecture, cost, power, performance, and manufacturing complexity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reverse engineer board topology, architecture, interfaces, and power distribution
- Investigate boards using microscopy, datasheets, measurements, and trace mapping
- Identify regulators, power stages, inductors, rails, and phases
- Compare competitor implementations with internal and customer designs
- Document findings through reports, photographs, maps, and records
Requirements:
- Electronics Engineering Technology diploma or equivalent practical technical capability
- Typically three to five years of relevant electronics experience
- Experience removing, reballing, and replacing fine-pitch BGA devices
- Ability to investigate complex PCBs without schematics or board-view files
- Understanding of components, power distribution, buck converters, and multiphase regulators
Use PCB analysis, electrical measurements, and electronics fundamentals to evaluate competitive platforms and communicate actionable engineering findings.
